I've driven by this place for years and was finally excited to try it today. While it is unique place to go, the food was sadly just 'meh.' I had the chicken fried steak with potatoes and their version of creamed corn. The breading/seasoning on...the CFS was nothing to write home about and neither was the corn--it was quite bland. Also, I had water to drink with the meal and it had an odd taste of moth balls to it. Not sure if that's an issue with the Boerne water system or if Po Po's has an issue with their water at that location--either way, very odd. I agree with most everyone else on this post too that they are way overpriced for the food quality. Personally I'd say, save yourself a trip and eat at a Cracker Barrel.More
We had looked forward to visiting this restaurant...but we were very disappointed. To keep it simple we ordered French Dip sandwiches. The meet was just terrible...so gristly that we couldn't even pierce it with a fork. And nearly every bite was like that. Sigh. The...worst French Dip sandwiches...ever...and we've enjoyed quite a few. The cole slaw was just OK. Our server was a bit quirky but nice. Overall a big no no for po po.More
Had a friend tell us about this restaurant. Said it offered home cooking, fresh meals so we decided to try it. The food was good but Peg, our waitress made the experience. She was friendly, outgoing and a lot of fun. We enjoyed our visit...and would probably go back if in the area.More
We stayed at Top of the Hill RV resort and went to PoPo's restaurant one evening for dinner & drinks. We had great food, and an awesome bartender, Tracey. She was attentive and kind, funny too. All in all, a great experience. Can't wait to...go back for some more homestyle cooking and Texas sized hospitality.More
I had eaten at PoPo all my life, and it was always excellent food and reasonable priced. We meet there for a family member's birthday. I always got the shrimp but it had increased in price so much in price I just couldn't see spending...32.00 for my meal, so I ordered chicken fried steak (which has always been a favorite at PoPo). There was so much breading on the steak, I peeled it off just to get to the meat. The steak was tough.I was very disappointed , even the biscuits were not the same. They were thin and over browned.More
I have reviewed Po Po's restaurant a couple of times in the past so was not intending to so now but, we had such a special time I had to report on it. My wife and I have had our Thanksgiving Dinner at Po Po's...several times, when our children can't visit, and have enjoyed the turkey dinner special every time. We know Po Po's well enough to make reservations at a time such as Thanksgiving. To our great surprise our reservation did not make it to the reservation list. However, the lady running the show, Tracey, was very kind and worked us in and it was packed. I will make sure I speak to her when making reservations in the future. All the servers were very courteous and I noticed how calm they appeared even as they handled large groups. If someone wanted a photo of their gathering the servers were very accomodating. The food was as always very good and so another happy Thanksgiving day was enjoyed. Thanks.More
We were visiting from Houston area and stopped in in a recommendation from a friend in the area. Everything was good, but I have to talk about the Fried Chicken. Everywhere I travel around the US I try and check out any spots that are...suppose to be known for their fried chicken. The fried chicken at PoPo’s is in the top 3 I have ever tried throughout my many years of travel. They serve a true Southern Style Fried Chicken like grandma use to make. A thin crispy crust, while extremely juicy on the inside, a Truly 5 Star Fried Chicken. On top of the good eats, our server Chris D was Spot On. Sharp, attentive, very personable, and totally on his game. If you get a chance, stop in and give them a try, they are sure to impress!More
