We loved the food here , it was pretty clean . We also loved the employees. They have good tacos , egg, and potato. We can't wait to come back.

Was reading Steve C review and decided after looking at all the reviews he has given and the number of reviews he has posted in any given day that he thinks that he is a regular food critic. Don't have any idea where he is from, and really could care less. I think that if he wasn't looking for Mona's... More
Happened to be craving a breakfast taco as we drove towards Hondo and then up to Concan. We saw Mona's on the main highway and decided to take a chance even though the place looked like a dive, and was later confirmed to be so. Order at the counter as you walk in. The inside has maybe 10 tables and... More
We stopped in here on the way into Castroville and glad we did. I guess a new Tink a Taco opened up which was packed, but we prefer little places like this one. The tacos were very good. Sam starts with a layer of home made refried beans. Then he adds bacon, potatoe, egg and cheese for the most mouth watering combination you've ever tasted. Inspired by the late Netty Tschirhart, this taste treat is a must try. Add their home made tortillas and hot sauce with their warm charm and you've got the best breakfast you've ever... More
The place is in an old gas station, so its not the nicest looking places, not terribly clean either, but tacos are great, and a great value.
I haven't been since 2003, moved from there after divorce, mouth has watered for the bean and cheese tacos ever since. homemade. I lived in Castroville for 10 yrs, and have been in Houston for 7. I miss Mona's so much, hope to go for a visit soon, love it. Not a fancy place but looks are deceiving. Gotta try,... More
This hidden jem of a taco house has the best breakfast tacos in all of south Texas. Sure it looks like a closed old Texaco station, and probably was. But once inside you are treated to folk art displays on the walls and one on one service. All the tacos are great, and you can even get them to go.... More
