First, let me say that I am not a fan of German food, but my husband is. So, when he was looking for a place for him to get good German food, he had to keep me in mind. The restaurant offered chicken-schnitzel which was...More

Great place to go have a few beers at the bar (good variety) and top it off with great German inspired food. Service is good and atmosphere is very laid back and casual.

We wanted German food and are trying to avoid red meat. Crazy, I know! We decided on the Stufferd Portobello. It was a good choice. As the menue says, it is a large portobello mushroom grilled & stuffed with creamed spinach & mashed potatoes, topped...More

Stopped by for a late lunch with friends. We were seated in the beer garden area that has a gravel floor and very small rickety wooden chairs that simply sink into the gravel when you sit down. It didn’t feel very safe and the chair...More

The Auslander is a Fredericksburg classic. They are known for their German fare. My friend and I both had the Reuben Sandwich. Very large portion with lots of meat, just a touch of sauerkraut (which was perfect for me...my friend would have liked more), and...More

Auslander was recommended as the best authentic restaurant in Freidericksburg. Apparently many people get this recommendation as there is frequently a wait for a table at dinner hours. My wife ordered the Rouladen which was very much like what we had in Germany. The Jagerschnitzel...More

We're sorry to hear that the Jagerschnitzel wasn't to your liking, Robert. Our restaurant does also specialize in Bavarian cuisine (a region in Germany with its own specialties), which can be different than the classic German cuisine that you may have tried before. We appreciate...More

Our experience was average. There was nothing objectionable in our visit but the food was average, the service was average, the ambience was average. If you wanna quick bite, it’s not bad.

The Hofbrau beer is excellent. The food on the other hand is your run of the mill basic wanna be German food. Granted, I may be spoiled having met my wife 34 years ago in Germany...but her cooking puts this place to shame. I had...More

We lived in Germany many years ago and wanted to eat some German Food. Waitress was rude and food was just OK. Nothing great.

Restaurant was recommended, but we should have noticed the irritated looking customers when we entered. The service was slow, to say the least. Wait staff couldn’t answer the most basic questions that we asked about the food preparation or ingredients. Our waitress smiled and went...More
