Many people told us to try this restaurant, so we popped in for dinner, because they are in a huge wine city I expected more than 5 local wines on the menu, additionally the food we ordered was not well seasoned and felt that it was missing some needed flavor

Take the steps down into the basement to discover a hidden gem in Fredericksburg. Limestone walls add to its charm. The service and food was excellent.

All Fredericksburg restaurants serve about the same type of "german food": Winerschnitzel, sausages, kraut. The Rathskeller wasn't much different. I only ordered sauerkraut and red cabbage sides. The first was not crisp and the second was sweeter than expected. My friends had the sausage platters or wienerschnitzel. All were average. The prices here are reasonable and it is family friendly.

My husband and I had breakfast here last week. The food was solid diner food with a couple of exceptions. One was a duck breast hash. I may try that next time. Food was good but atmosphere is dark. This location is in a basement. My husband had eggs benedict and I had an omelette with mushrooms and cheese. I... More

I've been here 5 times, and this time I was disappointed. The specials were pasta dishes, and they had taken items that I normally enjoy off the menu. I did have some red cabbage as a side, but it was watery and not very flavorful as I remember.

If in search for German food, head to Rathskeller, very nice and cozy restaurant. Food has the homemade look and taste. Fast service, quiet and pleasant. Highly recommend this place.

We went just for appetizers. Five Stars for the food! We shared Opa's German Sausage Sampler, and it was perfect for 2, or even 3. The sausage was sliced and nicely grilled, served with grilled peppers and onions. Also on the platter was smoked cheese, pumpernickel, creamy coleslaw, sauerkraut, and spicy mustard. The food was fantastic. Three Stars for the... More

We were seated at a 2 person table for breakfast which was located in a makeshift storage area with another long table. They must've just received a shipment of food because they had boxes laying all over the floor and on the long table. There was a worker in there making lots of noise opening boxes, going back and forth... More

We were looking to spend less on dinner one night so stopped here after it was recommended by a local. The food was good; not great. A very casual atmosphere.

A family friendly, moderately priced, fast service restaurant. We had the German sampler platter, a Cajun red beans and rice, and a salad.
