On a Friday night, we were quickly seated 15 minutes before our reservation time. The restaurant was noisy and lively on an island Friday evening. Service was reasonably prompt, given that the tables were full. We have been here a few times over the years,...and I’m sure we’ll return but on this evening, the food ranged from acceptable to not good. My Snapper Romano was good, cooked and seasoned well with a generous topping of lump crab and buttery burre blanc sauce, but the penne alla amatriciano was bland and fairly tasteless. The real stumble was the Tuscan Sausage Gnocchi. This was store bought gnocchi. It was tasteless and rubbery, paired with a sauce surprisingly devoid of very much Italian sausage. The sausage was tasty but there was very little of it in evidence. Contrast this with the Gnocchi at Riondo’s just the other side of the island, which was house made and perfect, buttery and soft. If they house make the Gnocchi at Grotto, the don’t know how to make good gnocchi. Frankly, it was BAD. A disappointing evening at a restaurant that is normally very good.More

The pizza delivered by Asap was cold. Not warm, COLD!!!! The pizza was delivered within the time I requested, so the restaurant must’ve made the pizza 2 hours before the delivery time. The problem wasn’t with the delivery service, it was with the restaurant.

The salmon was cooked wonderfully! Meral took great care of me! The view of the Gulf could not be beat and the pool area was nice too. The floor to ceiling glass provides for stunning views at any moment. Comfy seating no matter the section...and a delightful atmosphere.More

We made a reservation and came for dinner. As soon as we were seated, Elizabeth came over to greet us and explained the menu. We ordered Veal Parmesan and braised Pork Parpadelle. OMG, the pork was amazing, and the veal was really good too, but...I was so happy with my choice, it was like butter melting in your mouth. I ordered a glass of Ruffino with my meal and Strawberry Cassatta for dessert. My mouth is watering while writing this review thinking back about this meal. I would be here all the time if I lived closer.More

We made a reservation for dessert. The servers recommended the butter cream cake. Our server, Skylar, gave us five star service despite us not eating a full meal. The Grotto staff was accommodating and welcoming even though we were only there for dessert. We had...a table with a great view. The butter cream cake was delicious.More

Delicious dinners...I had the lump crab cake w/ pasta & asparagus. It was the most amazing chunky crab cake I've ever had. Didn't even get to taste the asparagus because I couldn't stop eating that crab cake!! Hubby had the veal Parmesan which was huge...& looked amazing. Zachary was our brilliant waiter, just chatty enough without being too overwhelming!More

My wife and I had the most amazing experience at The Grotto this past weekend thanks to the friendly manager (Corey) and one of the best servers (Skylar) we have ever met. Not only did he provide 5 star service throughout our meal, but he...really went above and beyond to make sure my wife's birthday was special. Once we were sat, he arrived promptly to our table and greeted us asking if we were celebrating anything special. I informed him that it was actually my wife's birthday. He wished her happy birthday and thanked us for choosing the grotto to celebrate our special night. I thought that would be the extent of his kindness, but that was just the beginning. When my wife excused herself for the restroom, Skylar took the time to pull me aside to the desert display, where he went through each desert (they have ALOT!) in great detail, allowing me to choose one that is her favorite. Once our dinner was finished, he brought out a Strawberry Cheesecake with a candle on it and "Happy Birthday" written at the top. My wife was ecstatic, as was I. It may seem like a small gesture, but its the little things like attention to detail, thoughtfulness and acts of kindness that separate a good restaurant from a great restaurant. The Grotto is a GREAT restaurant with GREAT staff members, and we will most certainly be back!More

Such a grand experience at Grotto. We were recommended to go there by multiple people. We were not disappointed. The table by the window, the chandeliers, the fresh bread and cold Ceasar salad, the wine selections, the entrees and last the desserts and coffees were...beyond all expectations. Our server Brandi was second to none, the kitchen staff prepared our food so spectacularly and even the manager came and spoke to us and went out of his way to exceed our wildest dreams.More

I hadn’t been to Grotto in years. First time visiting the restaurant in Galveston. It was an excellent visit, starting with the bartender Yulia. we sat at the bar waiting for a table.. Yulia recommended Austin Hope Cabernet and it’s on my Vino app wishlist...now. Very good choice! Thanks Yulia. Excellent customer service and a pleasant personality!. For dinner I ordered Vic & Anthony signature crab cakes. I wasn’t sure if the crab meat was sour, I took a few bites but couldn’t take anymore. The pasta and asparagus was good. Barton the waiter asked how was everything. I felt bad, but I told him the crab taste spoiled/sour. He immediately asked if i wanted to order something else and said he would let them know about the crab cakes. Manager Jo came out (VERY NICE GUY), apologized. I then ordered the Trio Tomato Pappardelle with chicken. It was soooo good!! Not expected, Jo comes back with a complimentary dessert!!! Omg that damn butter cake!!! 🙌 Barton has been working at Grotto for 2 years. He’s very knowledgeable about the food items and choices and an excellent trainer too! Thanks for the great service!! I will definitely visit again!!More

Big portions, most food was good. Casual, yet upscale...way over priced....appeals to the have money to spend crowd. Tables packed together...wait staff is scurrying around. Best thing was warm Italian bread for dipping... would find another place next time
