Food was delicious, salads and carnitas really were good. We even had a decadent strawberry something that was incredible. We ate in patio which was fun and waitress was prompt, despite the huge party going on inside an event room.

Great food that combines all flavors of the Goode family cuisine. Food was some of the best in Houston and the service was spot on.

This used to be my favorite place in Houston to grab a drink in Houston. I would have given it a 5 but 2 because it has changed. They used to rent the place out for private parties and close it to the regulars. They built a new bar and huge patio and said that the old bar room would... More

Service and atmosphere was on point. Now the food... We had their damn Goode burger and it was... DAMN GOOD! Honestly, it's the best in houston. They cook their patties over mesquite fire wood so the texture and taste is beyond any other. The quality of the meat was great too. The look of the place has improved although it... More

With the new menu there are so many more delicious foods, from the oysters rockefelle to the delicious desserts. Everyone was so friendly and prompt with the service.

I think they are redoing the kitchen and hope they will soon return to the days when they had more selection. The place is large with a live band at least on the weekends. It use to be a good place to have a drink and munch on appetizers, but currently the selection of things to eat is so limited... More

We were here on a Friday evening in January. No live music. Restaurant was mainly occupied by a private party with a buffet. Was told they were out of venison chili - really, on a friday evening, maybe the private party ate it all. The Texas memorabilia is nothing amazing that you won't have seen before - mainly old photos... More

We watched Sam Riggs here play on Friday and were very pleased. The outdoor space looked amazing, but since it was raining the concert was inside. They had TVs set up in the back so even if you didn't want to stand by the stage you could still get a good view of the concert. There were waiters and waitresses... More

First time we went here, we were blown away. Food, atmosphere and service. We have been 2 more times and found it lacking. Once they were mostly reserved for a company get together but still had several tables extra. We sat right by the door. It was so loud you could not talk at all. We were basically ignored due... Leon "Pappy" Selph just may have been the best fiddle player that ever lived. He was the inventor of Texas swing and is best known for having written "The Orange Blossom Special." Back when the Original Goode Company BBQ opened on Kirby Drive, he'd play the first Friday of every month for a flat rate of $65 and a bottle of Jack Daniels. He'd always take the whiskey upfront. And at the end of the evening when Jim handed him the money, the fiddle player would quietly fold it up and stick it in Jim's shirt pocket. He'd tell him, "Jim, things will get better. You just stick with it." It was a kind gesture and good advice. This all left quite an impression on Jim's son, Levi. So it was no surprise, when years later, Levi decided Houston needed a dedicated home for Texas music and created the Armadillo Palace right across the street from the original barbeque place that Pappy played all those years ago.Goode's Armadillo Palace hosts live Texas music several days a week. It serves a full menu of Texas comfort food and is available for parties of just about every size. Levi is no less demanding than his father is, and no place captures the spirit of Texas music the way the Armadillo Palace does.
