Not too many items on display for the $40+ that you pay for a buffet. I would rather order a la carte. Dessert menu is ok, though. Service is good.

We went for lunch and shared two appetizers followed by the special. The Traditional Ceviche was very good and the Lobster Taquito was perfection! For our main we shared the special (pictured below but I can’t remember the name). The combination of flavors was amazing...More

Been here many times the food for what you get is overpriced but I think there's Sunday brunch is good large selection and they charge per person only downside is the option to valet park

The vegetarian tacos were amazing as was the guacamole. We finished with the churros which were absolutely amazing. The server could of been friendlier. He seemed irritated with our questions.

This is the second of the H town restaurants that I've experienced. The first one was very good. This one was even better. Chef Hugo Ortega, winner of a James Beard award and a finalist for several years, is the executive chef and an owner...More

We’re a party of 8, from 6 to 60+, and from 3 continents. The service from the moment we enter the door right up to showing us our seats, taking our orders, giving recommendation, correcting the orders with something on the house, moving is inside...More

We've eaten dinner here before (positive experience) but recently stopped by for Happy Hour - served in the bar area (m-f only, 3-6). The service was top-notch and we tried a larger variety of things than if we'd ordered entrees. I'll definitely be back for...More

Great Business Lunch in this very special mexican restaurant. I still regret not to have ordered other things to eat which were really attractive. I'll go back for sure. Service is nice and welcome to describe plates and in general everything looked to me good....More

The food is modern Mexican and a fusion of sorts nothing like a menu of a Mexican joint, I would suggest you identify how spicy you want and which meats you prefer, that said, do not leave without trying their Cilantro sauce.

On par. Apples and oranges though. Hugo's focus on traditional and Caracol fusion and modern versions. Both excellent places imho

Located in the heart of Houston's Montrose area, Hugo's brings the exciting and earthy flavors of Mexico across the border. “Authentic Mexican cooking is a world-class cuisine that has remained virtually unchanged by the outside world," says Executive Chef Hugo Ortega of his native cuisine. "The food is as light and fresh as a seafood cocktail prepared by fishermen on the beach; as deep and complex as the moles of Oaxaca made with an astounding number of ingredients; and as earthy as the simplest handmade corn tortilla." With the opening of his namesake restaurant in 2002, Ortega journeyed full-circle to rediscover the foods of his homeland. The menu features traditional dishes from the many regions of Mexico, all made from scratch in Mexican tradition, including various cheeses, moles, tortillas and chocolate. The restaurant is also known for its stellar award-winning wine program, cocktail list and tequila menu.
