Hickory Hollow has been a go to for lunch and dinner over the years and recently become a birthday dinner place as well. The staff is friendly and our food has always been excellent! We will keep going for many years to come!

Went to Houston for a wedding. Researched internet for best chicken fried steak in town. Hickory Hollow appeared on every list. Very much a local place. Place your order, find a table, and wait for your order to be called. Ordered the medium size steak and it covered my plate. Mashed potatoes were real an green beans flavored nicely. Was... More

This place is so local, I was the only tourist in the whole place. According to my friend who took me there, not many foreigners come here which I find interesting, since the food is awesome. Texan BBQ, Live country music (I had no idea I like that) and the Chicken Fried Steak. Yeah, as weird as it may sound... More

Had the opportunity to enjoy Hickory Hollow in Houston while there on family business. Favorite place of people we know there so we gave it a try for lunch. Portions are very generous and tasty. I had the pulled pork barbeque sandwich and my husband tried the Chicken Fried Chicken. Sandwich was more than I could eat with some great... More

It was a huge chicken fried steak with some of the best okra I have ever had. I also don't know why but something about sweet tea in a Mason jar just makes it sweeter

Hickory Hollow hosts a bluegrass jam every Wednesday which gives me a chance to play with new people. Yes, I could eat before I go, but the food here is so good I never get tired of eating there, so I enjoy a good dinner every Wednesday. Add to that the really friendly staff and an open friendly atmosphere that... More

This place has been here forever and not only do the immediate locals flock there so do folks from all over the city. I know because I eavesdrop! My husband is a chicken fried steak expert and he says the dish here is tastier than most; the gravy is especially chicken-y and creamy. I'm a baked potato and chopped beef... More

Everything was great! Not a chicken guy, but try the chicken! Pretty tasty and glad we had a local tell us about it! They also serve the sweet tea in real cool ball jars. Nice stop.

Chicken fried steaks looked huge but in reality they are nothing more than excess fried batter. Not worth the money
