The workers were not friendly or helpful. What we learned we learned from others near us. Food was just ok. Very rustic place. And service was pretty bad.

Stopped in while in Houston for a quick overnight as it was within walking distance to the hotel. Great decision. Had a bowl of seafood gumbo followed by a fried shrimp and oyster plate. Both were killer good. The downside is that they did not appear at ALL ready to deal with the crowds brought on by the rodeo across... More

We had been to Captain Benny's a couple of years ago and loved their raw oysters, so our group stopped by for a couple of dozen of them as our mid afternoon appetizer. It's definitely a diner atmosphere, but everyone is friendly and the oysters are obviously from a local source. They are large, cold and taste fresh. One person... More

Fine place for good old seafood. Catfish, fries and hushpuppies, what more do you want. O, well maybe some huge shrimp too.

Benny's has great seafood, reasonably priced items and incredibly cheap beer. However, if you are looking for ambiance you better head for Pappas or another high-end seafood restaurant. Personally, I just want some cheap but fresh oysters on the half-shell, some cold beer and some broiled scallops. Benny's hit all the right buttons even if the space was incredibly cramped... More

Catfish, Flounder, Shrimp, Oyster and even chicken. The food is always good. There is ample seating and everyone is very friendly and accommodating. The service seem to be very slow however it does not take away from the food.I had the chicken po boy and had enough to eat the chicken along side the toasted french bread, french fry and... More

One of the specials was whole catfish and 6 shrimp. This is normally sold fried but I asked for grilled shrimp which I received. Both the catfish and shrimp were excellent and served piping hot. This was about a 35 minute walk from MD Anderson Mays Clinic. I highly recommend this place. Service was good and fast.
