The location is beautiful, right near the ferry in the ship channel. Beautiful view from all the windows, view of the lights from the baytown refineries. Service was great and very attentive. The food selection was amazing. From seafood to steak and everything in between. I had the broiled redfish with ponchutrain sauce it was delicious. Boyfriend had fried fish... More

Dining Room is Upstairs (electric stair chair provided) Group of 30 & we recieved Excellent Service, Excellent Food served quickly. Staff was friendly. Seafood Prices are high. However, I ordered chicken tenders & fries for $8.00. My spouse got grilled catfish (2 pieces) & it costs $18.

I went out to visit San Jacinto Battlefield State Historical Park and happened on the Monument Restaurant, so named because of its proximity to the monument in the park. It is right next to the Lynchburg Ferry on the Houston Ship Channel. I was there for lunch on a Saturday and the place was packed, with many extended families. Obviously,... More

Visiting a friend in La Porte over the holidays, we went to Monument Inn for dinner. The food was excellent and you couldn't ask for a better view of the Houston ship channel. We will definitely eat here again when in town. Highly recommend

It is hard to beat a trip to Monument Inn on a pretty Texas afternoon. The restaurant is located along the waterways of the Houston Ship channel, and there are large windows that offer up-close views of the barges and ships passing by. The food is plentiful (they even have an "All you can eat" option) and well cooked; the... More

There was the six of us hungry diners descending upon this establishment. Our hosts warned us about the quantities that you get if you order their All You Can Eat. Raw oysters on a half shell on a platter of ice and large cooked shell-on shrimp for the first round. Fried oysters, shrimp, fried stuffed crab, fried catfish, and French... More

From the oysters to the shrimp to the crab, I'm glad everyone enjoyed the seafood feast -- it's great to hear we're doing things right in the kitchen. As for our handling of the all-you-can-eat courses, I appreciate your feedback about consolidating orders. We do this for the convenience of our guests, but we'll make sure to be more transparent... A 5-star review means there are signature dishes worth to die for...and The Monument Inn has them. From Battered Shrimp to Shrimp Creole to Shrimp Cocktails you can wend your way through anything else on the menu and leave happy and content. Specializing in fresh Gulf Coast seafood, we've become one of Houston's most popular restaurants. In fact, we serve about 80,000 pounds of shrimp and almost 25,000 pounds of catfish, crawfish, and fresh fish every year! If you're in the mood for something fresh from the water, check out our popular Fisherman's Platter with its shrimp, oysters, catfish, stuffed shrimp, and stuffed crab.
