Came here because it was close to where I was at the time. Food was ok, service was excellent, and the food prep was very expeditious. It is not somewhere I would eat everyday but it was ok.

Good Tex-Mex place This place has been here for several decades always quick seating and good for large group Fantastic apple pie in a skillet with cinnamon ice cream Great to sit and have pie and coffee and visit a while
Every time we visit Lubbock, we try to make it to El Chico Cafe. The old atmosphere takes you back - it's cozy and comfortable. The service is the best - always helpful. The best part - the mexican food is FANTASTIC. I always get "Mama's Favorite El Caballero" because it has one of everything to try. I was finally... More
It had been about 16 years since my last visit prior to this one. It's still darn good and tasted exactly as it did in the past. I've been eatin there for about 40 years. The only reason I didn't go for 16 years is because I lived out of state. Great service and ownership.

Nice folks here who take good care of diners. A good menu with authentic Tex-Mex and Mexican home-style food. Never disappoints!

Unfortunately, our most recent experience did not live up to our memories. We received a lukewarm welcome, and while the waiter was friendly and efficient, we were hoping for more attention. The food was OK. The chips were... More
Having recently moved to this area we were pleased to find an El Chico Cafe here. We have eaten at many or these restaurants in other areas. The service was very good. The chips were warm and the salsa had just the right "bite" to it. The beef enchiladas were very good and the chili con carne that they were... More
