Well, I just made the mistake of trying Caprock Cafe again. First, the place still smells like a dirty mop. Second, my beer in the frozen mug was flat. Third, my burger was warm at best and the fries were cold. Probably a good place to watch a Tech game. Last, the furniture is pretty beat up. I'll stick to... More

I apologize for your poor experience. It certainly is not our norm. I have already sent your comments to our management team at that location and all of those failures will be addressed at the management meeting. Thanks for letting me know! More

Nothing fancy, decent burgers, but if you want the bison (buffalo) which we opted for, it's a $3.50 surcharge. Warning: the green chili cheeseburger is HOT. A total surprise at first, much spicier than the New Mexican standard. Excellent, though. The Caprock Cafe touts how it was "Voted Best Place to Have a Beer", but the draft and bottled beer... More

We're limited in our beer selection due to cooler space, but we serve our beer in frosty schooners and it is ice-cold, so I think that is why the Lubbock citizens keep voting us the best place to have a beer. You are correct about the green chilies--they are especially hot this time of year! Thanks for coming in and... More

We always enjoy grabbing a beer here. The food is pretty good as well. The nachos are usually our go-to, but we like the burgers too! Nice local bar scene.

Thanks for coming in! We built a bar that minimizes the drama in getting a cold beer and a decent bite to eat. We want our customers to just relax, not worry about stuff! We'll keep a schooner frosty for your next visit! More

This is one of three times that our service has been mediocre. Took about five minutes for manager to watch us stand by a dirty table before asking someone to clean it. Waitress asked if we wanted chips and queso, but never brought it, until we questioned her about 15 minutes later. Salads came after entrees. Everything was slow. CapRock... More

Fast and friendly service in a sports bar atmosphere. Good burgers and really cold beer. Music could have been lower in volume but the burgers were still good and the beer cold.

Thanks for the nice review! A couple more beers and the music level would have been fine. lol There are some spots that are quieter than others like the booths along the north wall. Come back soon! More

Caprock is always busy, but that's the true sign of a good restaurant. The food is always good, the wait staff are well trained and very good at their jobs, and the atmosphere will always be upbeat and fun. I like how the menu has a big variety of different types of food so that is good for those of... More

Had lunch with an old friend whom we had not seen in years. We were seated in the front area near the fireplace which was very cozy on a cloudy day and great place for visiting with our friend. The food was tasty and affordable. Our server was attentive and patient during our two hour lunch. Would definitely eat here... More

If you want cafeteria food go to furrs first s chicken fried steak is not what they serve. They serve a pre-made frozen meat product, canned gravy and potatoes. Please call it a country-fried steak. Just not a chicken fry. Everyone else just salt and food. It would be one star except it is not chain. Can't see going back

The fried steak is the one of our top sellers and we get comment cards raving about it. Chicken fried steaks are like wine, women, and song--everyone has a different idea of what they like. I personally tested almost every chicken fried steak in town when we were trying to determine what to serve, and there were some absolutely awful... More

Great spot for local flavor and good food- good sports and good service. Definitely try the jalapeño poppers, burgers are a stable standby, - but don't look for any craft beer or local tap offerings-

Thanks for coming in! We tried local beers and they did not sell well enough. One issue is the craft beer market is so split, it's hard to find something that appeals to enough customers. The other big issue is that we simply don't have any room to put new stuff, as our walk-ins are so full with the stuff... More

My daughter has been raving about their "Down and Dirty Chicken Strips" for almost two years now. We were finally able to visit recently and we can see why she likes it. The menu is huge and caters to just about any tastes. Although the portion sizes are typical for Texas, the food was good. Between the burgers, chicken strips... More

Description
"Cold Beer,Big Burgers,Hot Music"! Caprock Cafe opened in 1997, and is a fun and casual cafe with friendly service, great Texas atmosphere, and an enclosed patio. The menu features char-broiled burgers, Tex-Mex, and lots of spicy appetizers. Caprock Cafe at 34th & Indiana is close to Texas Tech and the United Spirit Arena, and is the perfect place to meet after games, concerts, and shows. Look for us under the big oak tree in the middle of the shopping center just west of Walgreen's Drug Store, next to Foot Tech. Caprock Cafe at 82nd & Slide is located in Rockridge Plaza (where Lowe's Supermarkets is and we are next to China Town Restaurant) in southwest Lubbock, and features plenty of parking. Look for the red windows under the tree on the west side of the parking lot.
