Some things just don't say the same and the "Brown Pig" is no exception. We drove through Marshall on a return trip from Illinois and could not wait to eat again at the Brown Pig. But we were disappointed in the texture of the meat and the change from coleslaw to lettuce. The staff was excellent and friendly and we... More

This food is so wonderful that many who have moved away return to request food to take back home to faraway places so others can experience it.

Neely's has been a Marshall mainstay for decades and I've been coming here since I was a child. It is extremely casual and relatively small - a hometown spot packed with locals and regulars. This review, like many here, may be a little biased based on the nostalgia that comes with it, but the brown pig sandwich is perfect in... More

They know when I come there is for one reason my favorite Extra Hot and I mean extra extra hot brown pig sandwich with a pound to take home to eat again later that night. I like eating it because I lost my weight over those great tasting brown pigs.

I had fasting labs at my doctor's office up the street. So I hadn't eaten breakfast and I was on the prowl for something quick. I knew Neely's was right there, and started fantasizing about getting a brown pig. Argh! I was only 10:30 am. As I approached it, I saw the open sign and rejoiced! They open at 10... More

My mother introduced me and my brother to the little brown sand which at Neely's. She ate there as a child over 50 years ago and introduced it to her children. Great pies too! Simple, friendly.

Locals take you here. It is a dive sandwich spot famous for its brown pig sandwich -- shredded pork, secret sauce, in a hamburger bun. It's was fine, but there's better BBQ in Texas. Incredibly friendly service. Only open for lunch.

No ribs, ever. Known for the Brown Pig Sandwich (smoked roast), meat was flavorful but dry. Brisket same. Sides mediocre also. Slaw fresh house made, but bland. Beans from a can and bacon added. Potato salad best I've had from a supplier with sour cream! Chili side Wolf Brand?!?! Service excellent! Bbq sauce? Watered down! But probably great before that...

Friends said this was "the best" but we were very disappointed. As ex-New Yorkers, we had better bbq up north than we've had here (commercially) to date.

Having grown up in Marshall, I have eaten at Neely's hundreds of times-- we always stop at sometime during our trip home to get our Neely's fix-- my brother is such an addict that he buys quarts of the meat and sauce to take back to Chicago-- However, the place has past out of the hands of the Neely family...
