The restaurant is behind a gas station in Woodbridge, but the taste of the food and the great selection of food and wines will keep you coming back for more. To say this is a hidden gem is an understatement, tucked behind a gas station, the restaurant has been producing innovative Italian food for 10 years. Recently because of travel my wife and I had not been for a few months, we couldn't wait to...get back and the it didn't disappoint. My husband and I booked reservations for our anniversary at Oca Nera after a family member highly recommended them. We were surprised of the location, which was nearby and yet we had never noticed. The restaurant is very nice inside and I believe they had...outside seating, as well. The food was great and we were both quite after appetizers and entrees. They have a fantastic wine list and choice of entrees. The only thing we weren’t impressed with was the lack of knowledge of the young waiters and the rather long wait for our entrees. We were greeted by the owner who was extremely pleasant. We highly recommend this restaurant. I believe it is quite busy as well and highly recommend a reservation. We've been here twice now & both times were incredible! Wally (owner/matre D) has a real knack for knowing what we like & want. He's always great at pairing drinks with our meal. We don't even ask, we just say bring us wine (white or...red) and he always brings us what we like. He takes great pride in his restaurant & has the largest wine & spirits collection I've seen in a restaurant anywhere in Vaughan. Food is delicious! We have tried the fried calamari with fried zucchini strings, the shrimps wrapped in pasta & fried, the squid ink pasta with seafood (my favourite), seabass, and other fish specials. First of all, this is the only restaurant that I have tried in MANY years that knows how to cook mussels. They are plump, juicy & not overcooked. Most restaurants cook them so much that they become tasteless and tiny. The whole squid ink dish is delicious & the mussels are yummy. Loved the calamari/zucchini dish. The chef puts love into the dishes & presents them perfectly. Everything we have had has been yummy and we were happy with the dish. The dessert at the end of the meal is a nice added touch & much appreciated. As for the decor, it's not your typical trying too hard decor in vaughan. This place is down to earth, clean and doesn't need to wow you with the decor, it does that with the food, drinks & ambiance. Thank you Wally & we'll be back!More

Oca Nera was that special go to place. Such a disappointing evening. Welcomed by stained and out of seasoned menu. Same "Winter" menu we experienced 4 years ago. Disappointing since we were well into the Spring season. Same obnoxious owner/maitre de serving side of sarcasm....Still great flavours but disappointing menu given the price point. Lost its originality. Such a shame.More

Oca Nera's service adjusts according to it's client. When dining with your wife, the staff create a romantic setting to perfection with little effort. Always cordial, friendly and attentive. Offering alternatives to the main menu and specials of the day. A quote from Walter "...Leave it with me". There is a little hidden secret in Woodbridge, we have a great restaurant that is the go to place to eat...Oca Nera. We were invited here years ago by some close friends who knew the Chef Cory well. We met our friends and sat for...dinner, our waiter came by introduced himself in a way that made me feel like I was part of their secret society I was in lol. We began eating and drinking and throughout the entire meal I could not believe I didnt know about this place, I have lived right around the corner for years. we feasted on the home made gnocchi in a wild boar ragu, still my person favourite. Shrimp wrapped in pasta and deep fried, another fav and the finally was the house made chocolate tortellini....you guessed it another fav. Since that day, we have celebrated my daughters confirmation, our birthdays and many many dinners there...the food, atmosphere and hospitality is superb. Do yourself a favour, book a night out, sit amongst the 'secret society' and enjoy what will probably be your best meal ever.More

Great atmosphere, Wally and Mike are fantastic, knowledgeable and attentive. I love the Stragga shrimp and the wine selection here. It's my fav spot!

My wife and I went there last night for Valentines dinner. The service was 6/10 the food was fair. The prices where from a different year. More like 2050 prices. The owner used the excuse of the U.S Dollar. I did not think 6 pieces...of ravioli were affected by the U.S Dollar. (To Funny) I ordered would arrive at least after desert. So the food would not be sitting on the table for 20 to 25 min. When I ask the owner how big the portion were, His answered this is not Desert plus? I knew the address to Oca Nera so why did he mention another Restaurant? Did he think I was lost? All I was trying to figure out was if I had to order more food. The 2 dishes I ordered for take out where different from the ones my wife and I had. When we got home the meat was raw and I had to cook it again for my kids. A real Joke!!!!2 dishes to go. They arrived at my table 20 min before I left.More

Must visit foodie destination. It is in the upper range price wise, but completely worth it. Fantastic wine list as well. I know many people who came once and became regulars.
