The beer bay was a nice experience and the ambiance of the resturant was great due to close proximity to the river. The service was substandard however. The food was not flavorful and servers weren't attentive. We told the waiter it was my birthday but...More

Our Age of Grace group visited the restaurant with Jessica as our server. She's a sweetheart; everyone in our section was very happy with her kindness and charm. We love you and appreciate your warm hospitality. Be BLESSED in JESUS NAME AMEN

Located just minutes from Schlitterbahn, we go eat here every year. Yes there is always a wait, but you can wander the grounds, shop in their souvenir shop or sit under the trees and talk while you wait. It is not air conditioned but there...More

don't go in August too hot, most tables are outside but not so many with a view of river if you should get so lucky. We have eaten there twice in 6 years and both times wondered what all the hoopla was about. Cute young...More

Depending on the time and season the wait can be variable. But we l o.j.ive coming over here for the ambiance and great food. We love the rustic feeling of the restaurant and it is such a beautiful place!

The family and I went for dinner after a great day in the river. We thought it would be the perfect way to end the day. While the food was great the service kind of ruined the night. The waitress just didn't care. She left...More

We made the mistake of going on a Saturday night, they said it would be 1 hour 45 minute wait. We did not want to wait that long so we left and came back on a Sunday around 5pm. It was only about a 10...More

We've all eaten at those tourist trap restaurants where only the tourists eat and the locals stay as far away as possible...well the Gristmill may look like a tourist trap, but the comparisons end there. I've eaten at the Gristmill maybe 30-40 times and I've...More

Gristmill is always on our list of places to eat when we find ourselves in the area for a short get away or mini-vacation. My wife had the cheeseburger and I had the burger with their queso, both were cooked to order and the fries...More

Cool place in a great location! The food is hit or miss, but generally good. The outside fireplace is nice in the winter, but dining can get quite hot in the summer.

There is a lot of shade trees, tables with umbrellas, and if you want to sit inside, there are ceiling fans. To cool off enjoy a margarita, beer, or tall glass of iced tea.

I saw grilled food items and veggies as well, I'm sure if you let the server know they can try to accommodate.

Situated on a bluff overlooking the Guadalupe River, this spectacular
restaurant nestled under the shade of towering oak trees has been the perfect getaway for a unique casual dining experience for thirty years.

Located in the historic district of Gruene just beneath the famous
Gruene water tower, we opened in 1977, serving steaks and
hamburgers from a tiny kitchen in the corner of the building.
Our menu still features thick steaks and large hamburgers, but the
restaurant also serves up popular South Texas fare like chicken fried
steak, fried catfish, grilled chicken, enormous sandwiches, fresh fish
and special dishes like tomatillo chicken and bronzed catfish. Fudge
pie, the enormous strawberry shortcake and our signature Jack
Daniel's Pecan Pie are famous desserts. A full bar with a good wine
list and fresh squeezed lime margaritas are also big hits.
