This is an historical bakery across from the courthouse. They have lots of delicious pies, cakes, cookies and other treats but not very German. Regardless, it is an excellent bakery to visit and enjoy being in the oldest bakery in Texas which opened in 1868.

We stopped here while day-tripping around Canyon Lake. I expected we may be able to pick up some kind of German specialty, and we did, but not what I expected. I was however delighted with their selection. It was like going back in time to...More

People told me that I needed to go here and try the German pastries. Went in looking for certain items that I always get in a bakery store in Germany and had nothing. Everything was what I can buy in a regular American bakery. Was...More

Love to pick up bread when we visit New Braunfels. This bakery has been here for as long as I can remember & our whole family loves their bread. I love the rye, but no matter what kind we get, it's always good!More

Neat historic bakery in New Braunfels. We had donuts, which were delicious and took home a peach pie, which was good but not memorable. I'd like to go back and try more of their breakfast pastries.

Always a stop for us to grab a treat! Love the fresh donuts and coffee cakes. I had to get a "quick sale" coffee cake for the road.

Naegelin's Bakery is the oldest Bakery in Texas. It has maintained the same original German flavor in all that they bake. My favorite is the Apple Strudel. A slice of apple strudel and coffee for breakfast cannot be beat. I always get a whole strudel...More

Description
The fresh cookies, pastries, pies and cakes from Naegelin's Bakery are of historic proportions and timeless quality. It's all in the preparation. The Granzin family still uses recipes developed by the Naegelin family during more than a century of experimentation to get the right ingredients. As you walk into the front door of the bakery, the sweet smell of baked foods engulfs you like a warm blanket. The glass cases are full of what seems like an almost endless array of cookies and pastries in a rainbow of colors. The bakery is still famous for their strudels that Naegelin perfected years ago. The Granzin's have added terrific sausage kolaches in addition to the menu of fruit filled kolaches. We suggest you try the popular favorite: the Lebkuche, a thick, rectangular brown cookie covered with pink frosting. Don't forget to try our apple strudel! We look forward to seeing you soon!
