This bakery was probably amazing back when it started, but since then it just has a famous name but not famous pastries or breads. Does not taste authentic or special. The only thing great that comes out of this place is their hamburger buns which are normally sold in other local shops so I never have to visit the actual... More

We stopped in for a cup of coffee and some of their famous Strudel.... There were 7 people in line, so we felt like we were in the right place for some fantastic sweets. We were right. The strudel was fantastic! The other treats were also fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, the coffee was a complete disappointment. They had 5 different... More

I'm happy to hear that our strudel left such an impression, Robert, and we appreciate your feedback on our coffee. While we understand that people have different preferences when it comes to coffee flavor and strength, we agree that it should always be served piping hot, and we apologize if that wasn't the case. That said, we're glad you had... More

While we have been visiting here anytime we make a trip to New Braunfels, I feel like now it is more of a tradition and not necessarily for the love of the baked goods. It seems things have changed as far as taste and freshness, but this is only my personal opinion.

Michelle, we take great pride in consistenelty creating delicious baked goods over the many years we've been open, so this is disappointing to read. We're happy to be a family tradition, but you should love the food as much as you always have. Our food is still made fresh, and we use the same recipes that our customers have come... More

I limit my intake of sweets, but this was highly praised, so I had to try it. Naegelin's claims to the be oldest bakery in Texas dating back to 1868, so nearly 150 years old. They have roughly the same assortment as the typical bakery offers in their store, but only 15 items on their online menu and for strudel,... More

I'm not a bakery expert by any means but this place is definitely the real deal. They had all the usual delicious items and then some - but..... We had arrived to late for the savory kolaches - the ones stuffed with sausage or ham etc. they were sold out. The wife loved it!!

Lots of variety - a great selection of breads, pastries, pies, and cookies. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. Went home with a bag of goodies too. Just had to try a bunch of tasty looking treats.

The kolaches were ok but the rest of the baked goods were not that good. We were there during Wurstfest and perhaps the big crowds affected their quality.

Nothing should affect the quality of our baked goods, thptrek, so if anything was off the mark we want to apologize. Thank you for visiting us during Wurstfest though! We'd love another chance to serve you our very best, so please keep us in mind if you'll be in New Braunfels again soon. Best wishes, Naegelin's Bakery More

Description
The fresh cookies, pastries, pies and cakes from Naegelin's Bakery are of historic proportions and timeless quality. It's all in the preparation. The Granzin family still uses recipes developed by the Naegelin family during more than a century of experimentation to get the right ingredients. As you walk into the front door of the bakery, the sweet smell of baked foods engulfs you like a warm blanket. The glass cases are full of what seems like an almost endless array of cookies and pastries in a rainbow of colors. The bakery is still famous for their strudels that Naegelin perfected years ago. The Granzin's have added terrific sausage kolaches in addition to the menu of fruit filled kolaches. We suggest you try the popular favorite: the Lebkuche, a thick, rectangular brown cookie covered with pink frosting. Don't forget to try our apple strudel! We look forward to seeing you soon!
