This is the place to go for brisket. There is no place better and I have tasted a ton of brisket across the US. Yes, if you eat there a lot you may once in a while get a piece of brisket that is not perfect to your liking, but, that is far and few between. The sides are just... More

Sides were ho hum. Potatoes were Ok. The baked beans were flavorless and the Cole slaw was just shredded cabbage. They need sauces and spices. BUT! The brisket was fantastic. The turkey was out of this world. The sausage was amazing and the ribs... O... M.... G.... ! Sauces for meat? Incredible! We split the Rancher - a great way... More

This restaurant was recommended by the front desk at our hotel and we were impressed. Ordered the "rancher" platter and the bison & beef rib special. Delicious sweet tea and fabulous BBQ, large portions, we were stuffed and still had leftovers. Excellent service, even offered us more sweet tea to go, more bread, pickles, etc. Highly recommend, as far as... More

Salt Lick is a table service BBQ restaurant. I don't care for this style of service for BBQ. For a start having a server increases the cost by 20% for a tip. The food was good though.

Yummy selections. Wonderful brisket, sausage & ribs... glad we chose to dine here. Very casual, it's BBQ after all. I liked the slaw better than the potato salad, but liked that the entrees included both & baked beans.

I live in New Jersey and I absolutely love barbecue. I watch all the food shows and anything on PBS that relates to barbecue. The salt lick barbecue was definitely on my bucket list. On a trip to Texas with several other carnivores we visited the Salt Lick. There are no words to tell you how much we enjoyed this... More

Not good BBQ. Good at moving the hoards in and out. Cobbler was just sugary sweet. Atmosphere was noisy without the usual décor.

Beyond horrible experience at Salt Lick. Went with my family in December after recently moving to Austin. We were all excited to try it as several friends and coworkers had suggested it and it was said to be some of the best BBQ. The place is typical BBQ restaurant set up and decor. The seats are a lot like picnic... More

There are two locations and we typically go to the one in Round Rock. BBQ is really good and I highly recommend it but it isn't cheap. If you go on the weekend around dinner time, expect to wait to be seated.
