On our trip to Terlingua in December one morning my wife was craving Mexican food for breakfast. This place came recommend by the river guides at Far Flung Outdoor. My wife enjoyed her meal. I liked the chips and salsa. The salsa was pretty hot for breakfast but I like it hot. We will return to try different items off... More

Mexican. Family run. Pleasant service. They do offer salads. Even though Rio Brava is a much smaller simpler spot I enjoyed the food and service there more.

The food at the Chili Pepper Cafe is nothing too fancy. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and didn't say it was horrible or delicious. Just a "meh" kind of meal. I ordered the grilled chicken breast. It was lacking in flavor and was pretty dry. It was also a little expensive for the quality of food received. In... More

Had a late lunch at this hole-in-the-wall while we waited for the time to check in to our casita. Service was pretty good. They don't have much staff, and the Christmas holidays seem to overload ALL the restaurants in Terlingua. Pretty good burrito -- about a half pound of shredded beef but not a lot of anything else. The quesadillas... More

The locals recommended this restaurant. We dined and enjoyed the authentic cuisine! Service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was authentic - pure Terlingua!

We are from Pennsylvania. We ate at Chili Pepper's and the food was fairly bland. My husband and I lived in Mexico for two years, so we know Mexican food. We both ordered chicken enchiladas. The chicken was dry and not seasoned. The enchiladas were buried in thick flavorless cheese, with almost no salsa. The rice was bland and mushy.... More

Authentic Mexican food. Delicious, but if the waiter says a meal is spicy, it will be spicy. No bar, but the locals know to bring in their own beer.

We ate here after a hike in Big Bend. The chips and salsa were fantastic. Very hot! I had the pork green chili which was very good. My husband had the cheese enchiladas and gave them a good review. The waitress was very prompt and courteous. We would go back.

We've eaten at Chili Pepper a few times now. Nothing really fancy, but the food is good and tasty (hot sauce very much so), service is quick and friendly, and it really hits the spot after a day in the park. You gotta keep in mind that food choices are limited in west Texas, but if Chili Pepper were close... More
