Great hospitality. Lots of fresh foods, including warm baguettes in the morning from a local bakery, freshly prepared sandwiches, organic fruit choices, nice cheese selection and freshly brewed coffee. Great place to assemble a nice breakfast or lunch for the trail.

Had pre-made turkey sandwich: cranberry bread (I assume home-made) was fantastic, had nice amount of turkey; wished it had more spread on bread--but most people are probably taking it with them on a long hike. Also had nice small fruit bowl. The fresh mint leaves: I could really taste the Sulphur in them :P (not sure where they're grown). The... More

Boutiquish natural food store with some takeaway. But you can also buy from the shelf and cold section and the owner will prepare it for you. She tries to be personable but sometimes comes off as snappy. One caution - if you're in a hurry maybe bypass here because the food is prepared one by one. The ham and turkey... More

We were traveling thru Escalante and thought this store would offer a picnic option based on other reviews. However, after looking at the limited selections for sandwiches and salads at 5 p.m., decided to eat elsewhere. Did purchase 2 fresh peanut butter cookies, but had to interrupt clerk to pay because she was busy talking to a vendor for several... More

We thought we were walking into a natural food store. What a surprise in the middle of nowhere. Amazing boutique options in food, body care, gifts. They had warm micro baguettes wrapped in brown paper. Smoke artichoke dip freshly made. A citrus beet salad with fresh mint. All great options for a picnic. We came back for breakfast the next... Stopped here for dinner one night, they were very busy, but we got lucky and got a table outside. We just wanted something quick and ordered a pizza. We weren't sure what to expect (we are from NY and don't usually get good pizza in the western US), but we were very surprised. The pizza was very good and the... More

We spent 4 days in Escalante. The Escalante Mercantile provided hands down THE BEST food in the entire town. We grabbed a picnic/sack lunch from the Mercantile with some chips and fresh made banana bread. The shop was darling with so many choices for healthy snacks and drinks. I would highly recommend a visit to the Mercantile during your visit... More

This is a must visit while in Escalante. We stopped in for provisions for our hike and left with food for the most delicious picnic ever. The fresh baked baguette was among the best we've had. Good crunchy crust and chewy airy center....mmmm. Citrus beet salad, tabbouleh, salami, cheese, scones....all absolutely delicious! They've thought of everything for your picnic including... More

Great little place for gifts for people left at home. No coffee but tea available. Excellent scones and cookies.

Warm baguette, great selection of heathy food to cook or grab. We were travelling on scenic 12 and luckily had read about this place. Wonderful!
