Lovely atmosphere on a warm evening, beautiful sunset. Very good service. I ordered steak- med. rare. It was very rare. I sent it back for more cooking and got back meat covered in black bits from the grill. At first I thought he had burned it but then realized it was the bits of burned scrapings from the grill. I... Have eaten here a number of times, and have always come away after a good meal in pleasant surroundings. This month was no exception. You have a choice of an inside room or a glassed in porch. Also have some special events outside. Typically good service.

The Tourterelle is a gem on beautiful grounds. The service was top notch All meals were exceptional. We had dinner twice and attended a wedding another night all in the same 4 day weekend. The highlight of the meals was the bouillabaisse. Fresh, tasty, creamy.. Relish.. the best I have ever had. The wedding was wonderful, from the food, to... More

This is a reasonably nice restaurant. Nothing special in my opinion. The steak frites was good, but how hard is this to make well? The mussels were so so, we've had much better. They were out of all fish choices on the menu except for shellfish. This was unfortunate for one of us. Service was friendly but nothing extraordinary. There... More

We enjoyed a delightful meal for our anniversary dinner. The historic building provided an interesting setting for attentive but unobtrusive service. The windows offered sweeping views of local mountains. The food was delicious. The appetizer of terrine was a light texture, elegant, served with crispy bread and pickled ginger. A starter salad of artichoke heart, cranberries and goat cheese laid... More

Dropped in last weekend without reservations....It happened to be Middlebury College Graduation....Yikes....no tables, but they graciously offered us seating at the bar. Great staff and awesome food as always. Just wish they were closer to my home. Considering it was a busy night, they still treated us as if we were the only guests. We will be back!

A real frenh gratin that most american people would think its just mashed potatoes and lamb the flavors were intence! we loved the dinner so much we went back for brunch and loved it. Small menu but to the point with offering both sweet and... More

Sunday (5.22.16) evening...My wife and I ordered the the gratin of Vermont leg and potatoes with onion confit. Sounds great! Right? But what appeared was a smallish ramekin filled with mashed potatoes. Careful excavation of the 1-inch thick mashed potato layer revealed about 2 tablespoons of brown gravy in which were suspended a few strings of meat. I don't think... More

The view from the parking lot alone, stunning in both directions. Lake Champlain & Adirondacks to the west, Vermont pastures and mountains to the East. Lovely grounds, well maintained. We were greeted promptly and show to our table. The wondrous wide planked floors show the age of the structure. The crisp white linens, Winsor chairs, delicate lace curtains…really set the... More

Description
Our Story:In the late nineties, a beautiful event planner from Brittany met a young, American chef from New York. Before long they married and their union produced first a daughter and then a culinary revolution in Brooklyn, New York. Locals flocked to Loulou, their first French bistro, as much for chef Bill's lusty cuisine, as Christine's gracious charm. Before long, Loulou beget Cocotte, another French eatery that drew crowds. Other chefs followed them, lining the streets near the Snells' restaurants with all manner of eateries. The couple turned their sights on a life-long dream: to own an inn and restaurant in Vermont. The Snells purchased the well-regarded Roland's Place in New Haven, Vermont in July 2009, changing its name to Tourterelle to reflect its romantic theme as a serene restaurant, inn, and venue for special occasions.
