They were open at 5:30 on a weekday. Service was top notch as was the food. Very clean, perfect local stop. Many choices for breakfast, priced right. Can't go wrong with a stop at Mary's Cafe.
During a recent visit to Vermont, I had the opportunity to have breakfast with friends at this quaint diner in West Rutland. What I noticed first (my first visit in 10 years) was that the former front porch was converted to beautiful dining space. The welcoming waitstaff made you feel were dining with family, and of course the breakfast was... More
Just like eating at your grandma's house -- felt right at home. This is where the locals eat. Friendly service and ends with an old fashioned handwritten waitress tab -- where's Flo:) Mary's breakfast sandwich was just right for me -- big hunka white Vermont cheddah -- oh yeah and crispy bacon and scrambled eggs. Monday is chicken and biscuits, mashed potato, (squash or peas) and cranberry sauce. Wednesday is a fabulous meat loaf with mashed potatoes and corn (which tastes like corn on the cob. Of... More
Among us we tried the pancakes, scrambled eggs, and egg sandwich and donuts. The food is very good...very generous and incredibly affordable. The staff are friendly and cheerful. And if you listen you will definitely pick up on the local gossip. Best part is, this restaurant opens at 5:30am! No waiting for morning coffee.
On our way to the kingdom we needed lunch and randomly found Mary's. We ordered the hot turkey sandwich with fries and gravy,It was excellent and tasted very homemade. My only regret is that I didn't save room for pie. Service is fast and friendly. If your in the are and looking for a good meal with a family friendly... More

all home made food, fresh home made pies, famous for breakfast & lunch, where the locals go, hash sausage home fries, all fresh
A good place to get breakfast. Homemade jam for your toast and everything is made fresh. You can adjust any of the menu items so it's tailored to your taste. Wonderful service, and a lovely little spot to start the day. I do have one suggestion - the coffee is very weak. Invest in some *good* coffee, charge a bit... More
