We were very happy with the menu selections, the freshness of the seafood, the portions and the prices! What else is there lol? My friend commented about the wonderful swordfish. The steamers were top notch, as were the other meals. My only concern was that there weren’t enough of those fantastic whole belly clams, and a few too many fries!

If you're looking for a good meal in a comfortable setting at a reasonable price, look no further. I ordered swordfish that was delicious .My wife ordered a mixed green salad with a piece of salmon. She loved it! The waitress was friendly and always nearby if we needed anything. We'll definitely go there again when we're in Wilmington Vermont.

As far as Wilmington is from the coast I wasn't expecting such an exceptional meal. The lobster roll was just what a good lobster roll should be - fresh and simple. Tasty clam chowder. The staff worked together seamlessly to get food out quickly.

We wrote a wonderful review the first time we came here and have been back a few times since but our last visit was not great. We arrived early and were happy to be seated next to the fireplace. It was not on so we asked it to be turned on since it was cool in the room. We were told by our waiter that they don't like to turn it on since it gets too warm. We had been there in November and it had been on, he said he would ask. He came back and didn't mention the response so we asked again, he mumbled something about it not working right. Our rolls and salad were good but bigger plates are neeed for the salad it is not really large but still spills over. Dinner was just ok, crab cakes very small and the squash was barely room temperature. We will give it a while if we try it again.

We stayed in a B&B close by that made dinner reservations for us. The hostess seated us right away. The place was packed and noisy. We got stuck with a waiter (Larry) who thought himself to be a funny character. We ordered and Larry did not write anything down. The one thing that the restaurant got right was a roll & a salad (which Larry threw at us from some height). My husband order Parmesan Sole (it came as a flat piece of white fish covered in a horrible brown sauce floating in oil or water from the summer squash & zucchini). My husband, who never complains, took two bites and shoved the plate away. I ordered Baked Stuffed Shrimp (which I got 4 of the smallest shrimp you have ever seen and lots of breading; also with summer squash & zucchini ("raw"--not cooked long enough); and I ordered rice, but I received garlic potatoes. I complained and was told,"sorry you had a bad experience." We paid $49.45 for a terrible meal and terrible service. My advice: go someplace else for dinner!

Came here to VT for first time. The good was this restaurant has history of being maple syrup factory and is nice atmosphere. The food was mediocre and waitress was not friendly and seemed to just be going through the motions. Was hoping for a great meal to highlight the trip but came away disappointed. Sangria was perfection.

Had dinner here one night during our snowboard trip at Mt Snow. We arrived around 6pm on a weeknight without reservation but were seated right away! This place sure fill up quick so highly recommended to make reservation if you choose to dine here. The staffs are really nice and friendly, orders come out pretty quick as well. We had the New England Clam Chowder which was okay, the steamer (special of the night) was not bad. For entree, I had the Sea Scallops and hubby had the Stuffed Shrimp which both were so-so. Overall mediocre food nothing special, but the dessert-homemade carrot cake and tall chocolate cake was pretty good!

We recently celebrated a family member's birthday at The Anchor while visiting in Wilmington. My mother recommended the restaurant after having several good experiences here in the past. I'm sorry to report that we were mostly disappointed. We were seated upstairs, adjacent to doors leading to a balcony overlooking the street. When we arrived there were diners on the balcony, which meant that wait staff was constantly going in and out. That would not have been a problem except that this was a chilly September evening, and some of our party felt quite cold sitting next to the doors. I wore a jacket throughout most of our meal. The wait staff was unsympathetic to our predicament. Our waitress, who was running up and down the stairs all night, complained incessantly about how hot it was in the room, and intentionally propped the door open a couple of times. We closed it. Sadly, the food wasn't any better. Some of our group enjoyed the Lobster Bisque, but my New England Clam Chowder was very ordinary. No one was impressed with the salads, which again were entirely ordinary. We were also disappointed with the Ahi Tuna, which my mother commented was nowhere near as good as it had been in the past. My Grilled Swordfish was dry, tough, and tasteless. Other members of our party thought they their meals were "okay"; I think only my son was completely satisfied with his Frutti Di Mare. Perhaps our experience was an anomaly. In any case, I doubt I would return, partly because the food was subpar, but also because I don't need to hear a waitress complain about how busy she is, or how hot she is from running up and down the stairs. That's the gig--if you don't like it, find a different one. So I can't recommend The Anchor, but as in all things, YMMV.

Far from great seafood. My fish had so much batter, parm and butter I couldn’t taste the fish at all. The people seem nice enough, but all four family members’ dinners were like diner seafood.

Had dinner here one night. Wife had rack of Lamb which was very good, meat fell off the bone. I had the baked stuffed shrimp which were dissapointing. Not very tasty and brought out in about 15 minutes. If you have worked in a kitchen you know it takes longer for real baked stuffed shrimp done fresh, must have microwaved or something, I don't know but taste was not what I expected, maybe a bad night, who knows. Pleasant staff.

One of the few restaurants open on a Wednesday night in the area. Salad a rolls were average… but the main entree, no thanks. Baked Parmesan Sole was more like diced fish in some kind of cheese sauce and briefly broiled. It resembled a really wet cheesy omelette. Rice was a good side option, but skip the linguine which was was more like dry spaghetti with not enough garlic and oil. Our server, the infamous Larry, mentioned in other reviews was a real character who did his best to be friendly and efficient but unfortunately the food was not good enough to make me want to return. I’d rather have a McDs fillet of fish sandwich.

Been there several times over the years and never been disappointed. Service and food always great. Had crab shrimp/ stuffed mushroom app, nothing but mushrooms and they were cold. Living at shore was reluctant to order fried clams but took the chance. Just a overcooked fried bunch of smallest clams imaginable, wouldn't be surprised if they were out of a bag.Fries as well were scorched.Never say anything but was so close.Tough times for everyone but expected better. Just a heads up to management. They always have Island Creek Oysters which are the best you can get!

This is a nice restaurant in Wilmington, just off the main drag through town. We sat on the porch in a comfortable outdoor setting. The service was great in a dog friendly setting. They have a nice seafaring selection of food as you would expect from a restaurant called The Anchor and it was all delicious at our table at a reasonable price.

The Anchor is a wonderful restaurant that we have frequented many times, sometimes with large groups and other times as a couple. They are always friendly and make every evening a great one. The food is creative and delicious. We are so glad to see them reopen.

Just had the worst experiene. I ordered the tuna with the cucumber sauce which I had last time here and loved it. The waitress said it didn't come with cucumber sauce only the salmon did. My husband pointed to the menu and showed her the cucumber sauce was one on the choices. When our meal was served, my tuna was rare, very rare, I usually get it medium rare so I was going to ask her to have it cooked more, the only problem with that was that despite only two other tables a 2 and a 4 in the restaurant she didn't return to ask how everything was until my husband had already finished his meal. When I told her I couldn't eat the tuna, she said they alway cook it that way if you don't tell them, well ususally I am asked how I like tuna cooked but on top of that there was confusion about the sauce so I didn't think of it. The waitress was not apologetic at all she actually laughed and was rude after that. They did take the meal off the menu but she never mentioned instead she rudely just put down the check. She had an attitude like she could do no wrong and nothing was her fault . We have been there before and had a great waiter. I don't know if we will ever return but if we do we will always ask for him.
