The food was great! Filling, reasonably priced, different than standard roadside chain restaurants. Large portions for cheap price. I only ate 1/2 of my $7 Club sandwich.

Stopping at the North Star was almost an accident. We almost turned back to the interstate. What a TREAT. We had the biggest and best cheeseburger!!! The onion rings were wonderful. If we’d had room - they have meringue pie too. The staff is very...friendly and helpful. But the ‘round table’ of locals catching up, solving problems and swapping stories was a hoot. Missed a slice of pie but we sure enjoyed THIS slice of Americana and the We the People that made America the land we hope for again one day. Neighbors, friends, farmers and locals. Hungry? Treat yourself at the North Star.More
Highly recommend this place. Our family of five had an early breakfast here before our river trip nearby. Service was excellent. Food was delicious. Pancakes are huge. Bacon was perfect - not too crunchy, not too soft. Omelet was great. Grits were yummy.
Just traveling on a Sunday and need a place for lunch. What a great find! I had a chicken salad plate and it was delicious. Staff was wonderful and hard working, They pay attention to detail
Excellent service. Very good food. Stayed in the area, this restaurant was convenient, clean, and exceeded expectation
The most traumatizing gastronomic experience. It happened an hour or two ago. 9.40 am... When we entered the little country restaurant, I saw people, greeting each other, talking and laughing across the room. I liked the friendly atmosphere. The nice, smiling waitress took our orders:...western omelet and grits for me and pancakes for my husband. We waited 65 minutes. 10:45, we left the table. The waitress stopped us saying that "he" is just putting the food on the plates. Since we were hungry, we sat down again. I informed the waitress that my grits are missing. She rushed to the kitchen, and I began to work on the omelet. It was very greasy, literally dripping with fat. I opened it and found only fried bacon inside but no mushrooms, bell peppers or onions. I took some bites but it was really impossible to eat. The waitress, still nice, took the plate and said she had to show "him" what "crap" he created. Then she brought me the grits - served in a used, dirty bowl, used spoon with old food on it, and they didn't even bother to make the surface smooth. Obviously someone had been eating those grits and didn't finish - and that came straight to my table! Just like that. We can discuss the subject of food, some people might like theirs swimming in grease but it's definitely a shame to serve a guest a meal that another guest had been eating. I showed it to the waitress, she was very apologetic and asked if I would like a pancake instead. As I said, I was hungry, so I agreed thinking, that nothing could go wrong with pancakes. Little did I know. It looked great, beautifully golden outside but unfortunately, it was uncooked inside. I tasted raw dough. The waitress took my meal entirely off the bill; we paid only for my husband's pancakes that were edible. I'm home now and still feeling nauseous.More
Since the restaurant was sold; and new owner is not paying close attention to over all product quality. Last time I was there the food was great in 2020. Now on this visit of 12 29 the food was bland and blah. One lady in...my group ordered country style steak; and s couple sides. When the lady brought it to the table; it was pot roast. We bought it to her attention. She said that is country style steak. She got defensive; and we just let it go. The evening crew need to be trained.More
A great breakfast, reasonably priced, and they are very good people to boot - if you are in the area and want a country meal that will remind you of your grandmother, be sure to stop in.
Excellent food and service. Real American experience. Had breakfast there and it was amazing! Good prize quality experience.
