The 29 Diner is an unpretentious humble place that serves gigantic portions of real food with warm friendly service. This diner is actually on the Historic Registry and is a true slice of Americana. It serves up breakfast all day, and is open 24 hours, except for a brief closing on some weekday. The waitresses are super, attentive, warm, quick... More

I'd skip this place if you are looking for good food. We were turned off by the smell of old grease the minute we walked in. I had a bbq beef sandwich with a side of mac and cheese and my boyfriend had a burger with fries. The bbq and burger were just okay, the mac and cheese pretty tasteless,... More

Had dinner here one night, the service was great and the place is spotless. Everything is made from scratch except the fries.

Not much to look at but this old school diner servers up some great food. Built in 1947, it is a place you would pass without noticing. Upon entering you wonder if you made a mistake coming here until you notice the cleanliness and receive a warm greeting. Inside the tables are small and you can imagine people sitting at... More

At distance can be seen Fairfax city icon Diner 29, for 50 years, family owned restaurant, still standing and open 24/7, where night never sleeps. Check-out its photos.

As you enter the diner, the smell of the smoker at the front of the building teases your taste buds; the chicken cooks first, then the beef; there is a separate smoker in the back for the pork. It's a small place, and not fancy; a few booths and tables, and counter space. it is frequently crowded, since the food... More

This is a hard review to write, but keeping in mind that this is a dinner. The baby back ribs were cold and burger was over cooked. The portions are good and the barbecue sauce is really good. The waiter was very nice, but the person helping her serve the food, was carrying the burger in between his arm and... More

A real dinner with greasy spoon regular dishes, breakfast anytime, pretty fresh stuff, not as expensive as some other local diners. I have never visited when I state I have visited but never post on anywhere I have not visited numerous times

Lunch was good! Ribs are delicious! I'd love to see more vegetables in the portion. I had mushed potatoes with gravy and green beans. I liked the interior, pure bikers style!

I love this place. Something about sitting close to your neighbors at the bar... Food is good. Anything you want for breakfast - they have it. Sandwiches for lunch are grrrreeeaaaat! Lunch or Dinner they have some awesome bbq, smoked fresh right there on the premises. You can usually talk to the pitmaster as he is always hovering around the... More

We are "new" owners and we are honored to be stewarding the 29 Diner! We cleaned her up greatly and have an amazing southern cooking head chef, who specializes in home cooked, comfort, diner food. We hope you stop in and give us a try. John
