For a barbecue fix, this is a good place to eat for lunch. Not fancy, but good food. The salads especially are tasty.

A good selection of beers on tap to wash down some spicy barbecue - sauces vary from mild & sweet to hot & spicy. Ribs available with your choice of sauce or with a dry rub. All the standard side dishes are available, but my favorite is their onion ring loaf - a tangled mass of battered onions deep-fried and... More

This restaurant is an overall nice restaurant. Nothing really fancy or special, just a solid place to eat. I"ve never had a bad experience and the food always comes quick. I always get the Pulled Pork sandwich and it is delicious every time. Throw on some sweat and spicy BBQ and it really hits the spot. If your not really... More

I have frequented the Fairfax location 3 times in one week. It is a great place to have a quick bite at lunchtime when you are pressed for time. I sat in the bar area, and already knew which lunch special I was going to order. You figure the BBQ, potato salad and iced tea are already made; they just... More

Two terrible experiences in a row. Had to wait nearly 40 minutes for a carry out that I had called ahead and ordered. The sad fact was the restaurant was empty and the poor bartender was trying to do everything. And the manager just didn't care when the issue was brought to his attention. Insult to injury - I got... If you love hushpuppies, you have to try the ones they make here. Get them on one of their catfish platters with a nice side of fried okra and sweet potatoes and you have a real meal. Big portions for the money. This is some good eatin', folks. We live in Fairfax and we eat here because it's gooooooooood!

I always get the half-chicken barbecue platter. Cole slaw and baked beans sides are excellent. I have gone here many times!! Great atmosphere. Service is wonderful and servers are responsive to special requests. I love this place and have enjoyed taking guests here for a consistently great meal and experience.

I have eaten at other RHB's and they were OK but after having eaten at this place twice for company events I will never go back. Poor food and terrible service.

Not bad BBQ for the city of Fairfax. Is it the best I've ever had? No, but it's satisfying. They offer a good pulled pork, tasty burgers, and other dishes. Good-sized dining area and delivery, too. If you're looking for BBQ, I'd recommend this place.

My family LOVES BBQ and ribs - I'm not as crazy about BBQ, but there's plenty of other things to suit my palette. We like them so much we even had them cater my daughter's wedding reception. We'll keep returning.

Description
Red Hot and Blue is a full-service, casual-themed restaurant chain and caterer featuring delicious award-winning ribs, Memphis-style barbeque, smoked wings, and Southern sides and desserts. The atmosphere is steeped in legendary and contemporary blues music and delivers a large dose of Southern hospitality in a fun and entertaining dining environment. History: The first Red Hot and Blue restaurant opened in Arlington, Virginia in 1988, started by Lee Atwater, Don Sundquist and friends. Don Sundquist was from Memphis and served in the House of Representatives and as governor of Tennessee. The late Lee Atwater was an amateur blues musician and political figure that managed George H.W. Bush's successful race for the presidency. These men were friends who longed for authentic Memphis-style barbeque and great blues music. Unable to find that combination anywhere in the Washington, DC area they decided the only way to get it done was to open a restaurant of their own. The Memphis-style barbeque chain celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2013 by partnering with a charitable organization at 24 different restaurant locations. The yearlong celebration culminated in the presentation of thousands of dollars in donations to local charities. The Name: The name, "Red Hot and Blue" is taken from the title of D.J. Dewey Phillip's radio show that that aired on WHBQ-AM in Memphis, Tennessee in the 1950s. This radio show launched the careers of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash and broadened the audience for artists such as BB King, Muddy Waters, Robert Cray and Rufus Thomas. Red Hot & Blue Dine-In, Take-Out and Catering. Hickory-smoked Memphis-style BBQ, Ribs, Wings, Beef Brisket, Smoked Chicken, Seafood, Full-service Bar, in a Family-friendly atmosphere with a heapin' helpin' of Southern Hospitality!
