I went into El Sol being told it was an authentic Mexican Restaurant but still expecting to have a meal like so many others I've had before, Mexican/American. The first bite into my tacos and my taste buds were pleasantly surprised! My Mexican wasn't full of salt based seasons or grease like every other "Mexican" meal I've had before. No,... More

Our party of four (all adults) enjoyed our visit to El Sol. The food was excellent; each of us loved our meals. The service was okay; we had to ask for silverware and a beer glass. We only found out as we were leaving that the restaurant serves enchiladas; they are not on the menu and have to be requested.

My husband and I went here last night for a date and really enjoyed it! The new location on S Carlton St. is really nice- the outside is unassuming but the inside is brightly painted and well-decorated. We got chips and guacamole, horchata, tacos dorados, and a taco salad for ~$25. More than reasonable for a fun date! The atmosphere... More

Very good authentic food. Don't look for the unlimited chips and salsa like other meixcan resataurants. $3.99 for chips and salsa....homemade Flour Tortilla chips and delicious salsa. SErvice is mediocre and they only have beer - no alcohol - so virgin sangria

It is a simple and yet truly wonderful restaurant. A friend had the taco salad and another had vegetarian tacos. I opted for two of the shrimp tacos and two beef steak tacos - note: they are the small tortillas. The shrimp tacos were excellent. I wish I had known about El Sol when I was spending more time in... This is not a fancy place but that is not the point. The atmosphere is what it should be, simple, Mexican music in the background and a very good wait staff. The food is excellent. I would not hesitate to go here. Thank you for a wonderful eating experience. The prices are really good.

Hungry? Want something authentic, simple, and flavorful? The tacos - carnitas & carne asada - were fabulous! My friends had sopes and tortas, both of which looked great too. If I am ever passing through this place again, I will make it a point to stop here. (I made an extra to-go order on my way out for the tacos... More

This is a small place it might seat maybe 18 to 20 people at most. But it has a charming ambiance, not all the tables match their decor so they should really update that. The food was like homemade. I had the Caldo de Res and it was not done the way most restaurants would do it, but you might... More

Wow! I AM GLAD WE DECIDED TO EAT HERE! My wife and I ate here on Saturday, July 13th, 2013. I wanted to find authentic Mexican food, and I was not disappointed! Good food and good value. A hole in the wall, but don't let the looks deter you! Everything is made to order - a small menu - but... More

Best Mexican food I have ever had! They do not automatically serve the refried beans and rice that I never want to eat anyway or fill you up with the chips and salsa while you wait for your meal. Very small and plain restaurant. The food was not only superb but the service was very friendly and helpful. Yeah, if... More
