Cool place, authentic theme. We had a chicken dish and the jeger schnitzel. Both very good! Quick service. Good carrot cake.

We've passed the Bavarian Chef many times running up and down Rt 29. This trip we timed our departure to hit Madison at dinner time. We were expecting a great, authentic German restaurant and were let down. The food was unremarkable. Good and plentiful but...More

I've passed this restaurant on many an occasion while going to visit my son in Charlottesville. On this trip we decided to eat there for dinner. The faux Bavarian exterior is no indication of the old country decor of the interior. No, it looks nothing...More

We were celebrating two July birthdays with dinner at The Bavarian Chef. We each enjoyed Schintzle which was accompanied with sides. The Red Cabbage, Creamed Corn, Carrots and whipped potatoes was enough for the four of us to share. Good wine selections and the beer...More

DISCLAIMER, I am not an expert on German food, BUT the food my Wife and I had at the Chef was the best restaurant experience we have ever had to date. The service was just perfect for us, the server was very polite and attentive...More

Neighbors got together for a restaurant week dinner. Twelve is a fairly large table, especially during restaurant week. We were seated upstairs on one large picnic style table. The back of the table had a rather slanted roof line. Ok for shorter people. The bench...More

They charge five dollars per person to share a meal. I think that’s a little steep… I see other places the charge it, but $10 extra?!
