I love this place! There's no other place like it. I can imagine what it must have been like back in the 1700s as a busy Inn. They've maintained the original wood work and the decor is true to the historical time period. The wonderful food almost takes a back seat to the ambiance. It can be a little pricey,... More

We had both dinner and breakfast there. The Virginia ham at breakfast was excellent. For dinner it was the stuffed flounder and chicken pot pie. Both very good. I ordered the peanut soup because it is a house specialty. When it didn't come before the meal I asked the server and he admitted it had been forgotten. In moments I... More

The quality of the food depends on who is manning the kitchen. Sometimes very good and sometimes average. A little dated.

We totally enjoyed our lunch at this historic old inn. My family wanted to eat here because of the history. First off, the service was excellent. The food is delicious. But the best part is the old inn. The staff invited us to tour the facility. It's amazing. Each room is different and they're all decorated with beautiful antiques, quilts,... More

Tired of 5 nights of cookie-cutter motels on our cross-country road trip, we searched for a B & B and the search rewarded us with finding the Wayside Inn. Our room and the bath were small, but comfy. What made this stay really nice was that we had the entire lobby, dining rooms and many nooks and crannies to walk... More

This was a highlight of our trip to the valley. The building is worthy of a stop alone...it's chalked full of history with great old rooms and fireplaces. But the food? It was delicious as well! The sandwiches were great, appeared to be on homemade bread, and the soup was excellent and homemade as well. My husband is still talking... More

From the moment you walk in you are transported to another time. The wait staff is super friendly and attentive. Ask for Diamond. She's fabulous and will do her utmost to ensure you have a great time. Ask to be seated in one of the older parts of the building. We dined in a room which was part of the... More

We had reservations for two on Saturday Night when doing the Civil War Reenactment. Last year, they had a great buffet set up and it was reasonable and showed off their highly-rated food. This year, no buffet. We arrived at 5:30 p.m. and were told that the kitchen was backed up. I ordered a Chef Salad, my husband, the peanut... More

I took my family to visit the Civil War reenactment at Cedar Creek--awesome btw! Being in the spirit we decided to go to the Wayside Inn for some nice dining in an historic inn. We were seated right away and told a waitress will be right out. Things went progressively down hill from there. Long story short, the empty water... More

The salad was fresh, the rolls were very good and the homemade chicken pot pie was delicious. My mother-in-law and I ate at the Wayside Inn Saturday night after attending the Cedar Creek Battle reenactment, which I also recommend. The kitchen was backed up (because of a bus load) so we had a long wait for our entree but they... More

Description
Dine in the Colonial Days. Historic good taste is the specialty of the Inn, with authentic Regional American Cuisine available with advanced notice to larger groups in one of our antique filled dining rooms.

This week we're open on Friday at 4 PM and Saturday & Sunday at noon with a pub-style menu. We'll be closed from Monday through Wednesday during the winter.

We plan to expand our dining options to include a Sunday Brunch and other dining opportunities but the tavern is the only dining currently open.

If you have a group of 15 or more we will cater to your dining needs with options available for any budget.

For cocktails, the Coachyard Lounge welcomes you to relax where horse-drawn carriages once entered the inn.
