We primarily went to the restaurant on a Friday night to take in the show of traditional music and dance. It is advertised as a weekly event and was very well done. The music started with North American music, song in English but changed to Central American music song in Spanish. The band was very good with a good acoustic... More

Returned to see if anything had changed, well, obviously it had not. Food was quite pedestrian. The mosquitoes will eat you up under the table as they are breeding them in the fountains (no chlorination in water), service always great but that does little to excuse the poor food quality and need for repellent... Avoid, I will from now on... More

Very friendly and very accomodating staff. The food was delicious and the ambience was very romantic. There was also entertainment - singers nod dancers which was beautiful. They also encouraged guest participation but they weren't pushy. It was very very colorful and a lot of fun to go along with the great food.

The dinner we had at El Tranvia has got to be the WORST MOST DISGUSTING meal we've ever had at a restaurant. Forget about the fact that it was so overpriced. We wouldn't have mind the US-type pricing for a meal as long as it lives up to. But this meal was just plain and simple BAD! To give you... More

The service, food and ambience of Tranvia are very good. We sat at a table in front of the restaurant so that we could watch the street performers on the busy street. I was with 3 other people and we all enjoyed our food though with potatoes and rice and plantains it could be a bit on the starchy side.... More

We found it on our way down La Calzada and the patio made us get in. We order Lobster in Coconut sauce and macarroni marinera. Both were good in terms of taste however my pasta was a bit raw. The hamburguer we order for the kid was nice. While we were waiting they brought complimentary fried plantain with cheese sauce... More

We dined here on a recent Saturday night. Located in the lovely Hotel Dario, El Tranvia offers a great view of the pedestrian Calle La Calzada. Our table was on the patio which allowed us to watch the festivities on the plaza-that night, a boxing match which included a Nicaraguan fighter was being shown on TV. Many of the restaurants... Nice menu, good food and nice ambience. Really enjoyed the service as well. Salads were very good. I would highly recommend it.

We explored all of the restaurant menus as we walked down the festive street of the Calle La Calzada before deciding where to eat. The street is always closed off for vehicle traffic so there are all sorts of unique outdoor/indoor restaurants along the way. This neighborhood is a fun place to visit in the early evening to enjoy happy... More

Great steak dinner. $15 US for a nice steak, mixed beans, and plantain. Great price for great quality. That was preceded by a basket of warm bread and some type of 'fry' - perhaps plantain? Delicious meal and professional, friendly service. A beautiful setting with tables inside the restaurant overlooking the street. Recommend!
