Two Things I've seen in reviews that need to be dismissed: 1. "It's too pricey for the portion size!" -The amount given on each course of the 4 course menu is plenty and may seem small when ordered a la carte. The 4 course menu route leaves you wondering if you're gonna even have enough room for your entree's, and... More

Friendly staff that was quick to attend to any of our needs. The food was cooked perfectly for me. Our waiter was really a joy to me and my family.

Our visit started slow but ended well. The entire experience was fantastic and aided by our waiter Mike. He was great! An amazing personality, very attentive, and excellent service! Food-wise...the suggestions made by Mike were spot on. The bacon & jalapeno cheese fondue was delicious. Our entrees were fantastic! I believe the sauces really complimented the entree very well. Dessert... More

Me,hubby and another couple had reservations for 7pm. We were seated promptly. Beverages were served, orders were taken. The appetizer was served....next should have been the salads. And I say SHOULD have been because the broth for our dinner came out before the salads came out. The salads took 45 minutes to make and they were simple house salads. By... More

This place never disappoints. The food is great, the service great and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. Great for couples or friends getting together. No so much for younger children. When the food arrives I always look at it and think there is not much there but I always leave stuffed and pleased.

Ate here with my wife for valentines day. It was really expensive because "it's the busiest night of year". However we were one of 4 couples in the restaurant so....anyways, we had a great time. The service was absolute perfect. The atmosphere was romantic. Every booth was isolated and we felt like we were the only ones there. The food... More

There were five of us - 3 adults, a 9 year old girl and 11 year old boy. It was a dinner event! We ordered the four course dinner for each adult and the children shared one.The kids loved skewering their food and putting it in the pots. There was plenty of food and the quality was excellent and the... More

We had walked past The Melting Pot many times enroute to the Japanese steak house next door and always wanted to try it. So we took advantage of the Newport News restaurant week special to give it a try. As others have described it is unique and expensive. Food, as far as taste, and the attention to customers by the... Our first time at the chain. Very different experience than most restaurants. We have mostly positive thoughts on the place, yet acknowledge, it may not be for everyone. Pro's: - Very leisurely. Figure 2 1/2 to 3 hours for the four course meal. Booth is yours for the night. - We very much enjoyed the cheese fondue appetizer, and the... More

This is the go to place where you want a great meal with great atmosphere. It is upscale and the dinner prices reflect that. If you go as a 4 some remember to ask for two burners at the table or it will limit your choices.
