Three days in Marina di Camerota. Three dinners at Cantina del Marchese! I posted a review of this restaurant in 2016 when we first fell in love with it and I'm happy to report that it hasn't lost any quality and just as delicious as...I remember those many years ago. I don't want to repeat myself but everything I wrote still stands. Simply put, this is the "best restaurant in the world"! There, I said it and proud to. It would be quite difficult to find a restaurant more traditional yet vibrant, more delicious yet simple, more humble yet stands out from the crowd. I've been studying, living and working in Italy on and off since 1987 and have never encountered such amazing and unique food. It's a cuisine that's so special. Sometimes Greek, sometimes Italian, sometimes just like nothing else you could ever imagine. Service is unstoppably wonderful. The family who runs this place do it so well and so kind. We always bring back some dried sausages or some souvenirs to remember our times here. Can you imagine - 3 dinners in a row, one night after the other and always delicious and mesmerizing! That says a lot about a restaurant. I am my spouse often dream about the food here. Wines. It's just great! Thanks so much. We'll see you again! StevenMore

Nice restaurant with typical Cilento ambience. The food is very very good, typical local dishes, good choice, good price. Service is quick and waiters are kind. Unfortunately very few tables outside in the street, but the interior is really nice

This gem was so pleasant and a true gem. The food and the service are fantastic. Had the cheese and meat plate, the goat, the veal, the eggplant, and a couple other appetizers. Highly recommend.

Dinner with the wife and we loved it! This hidden gam in Marina di Camerota offer traditional local food well executed and served in this amazing setting. The venue is not too easy to find because out of the center and hidden in a little...street inside the Marina but it’s worth the time to find it and every euro spent. Service is friendly and food & beverage very good! Please note that the food selection is “limited” but an experience that you will not regret.More

Wow I don't know why some people gave this restaurant low ratings! Me and my boyfriend who is from Italy ate here for dinner and we're very impressed with the calibre of the food and service! First of all they have a great menu filled...with only typical food from the region. You won't find any random general italian food here. Secondly the waiters are very attentive, stylish and funny! They made good meal recommendations and made us laugh so much. We even took a photo with them! The food itself was extremely delicious with a gourmet rustic style and a nonna cooking in the kitchen whom we thanked after our meal. The ingredients are also all local produce. The polenta, cured meats and fried eggplant dishes were delicious. The food is also very good value for money and not expensive. The interior of the restaurant is elegant rustic and cozy with lots of wooden furniture. We thank you guys for such an enjoyable experience!More

First, the smell. A smell of a cleansing solution. A chlorine odour. Second, the waiter just repeating again and again what great german he speaks. It wasn't great. Third the primi piatti almost cold and the secondi, we ordered rabbit (dry and hard) and veal...(chewy). Add the noise so we decided to skip the dessert and run. Never again especially that there are so many great restaurants in marina di camerota. Try the others.More

On a recent trip to Southern Italy, driving through Campania, Basilicata and Puglia, the restaurant my spouse and I fell madly in love with is called "Cantina del Marchese" in Marina di Camerota! I liked it from what I read and saw in Tripadvisor but...nothing could have prepared me for what we experienced! You can't capture the smells of nature, the pastures or the flowers when you lift that first slice of beautiful glistening prosciutto. You can't explain the explosive flavors and oven roasted heartiness of the casseroles and the textures of the hand made pastas! The wholesome goodness and tastes from the flawless preparation made me shiver from the inside. When I have a culinary experience like that, that reaches all of my senses and then makes me shiver, it becomes a once in a lifetime experience that I'll remember forever! And then there's the wine!!!! Upon taking the first sip, we shared a surprise gaze and gasped at what we tasted. For that, i don't even have the words. It's what i imagine wine should be but never tasted before in my lifetime! It was that special. Great wine has been written about in poetry and literature for centuries and this is what wine must have been like. It's as if we drank a gift from the earth and tasted something so simple in absolute beauty. i almost wanted to make a 4 hour detour, each way, to the Napoli airport from our last stop in Puglia just to have it again. But instead, we promised each other that we'll be back again some day!!! This restaurant is very very special. The owners are kind and compassionate and very proud of what they have. We were treated beautifully, fed magnificently and if you're lucky enough to be in Marina di Camerota, do yourself a favor and have a meal here. You will never experience anything like it and never forget it.More

Our hotel suggested trying this place to discover the local food and traditions. We booked (luckily, as it was full by 2030!!) and wow, the food, wine and the service were all truly wonderful. The waiters and waitresses all dress in traditional costumes and the...food and the wine were excellent and the place too follows the local traditions. We ate vegetables and drank local wine and the bill was only 20 Euro per head. WELL worth a visit for the food and wine and for the experience, excellent!!!!More

Interesting rustic place, they serve very tipical dishes from Cilento totally new even to Italians from other areas. We liked the "maracucciata" (not sure about the spelling) a sort of dark "polenta" with small pieces of fried bread inside served with chick peas and onions...slightly spicy. All the dishes have lot of pulses and potatoes in them. Worth trying not expensive.More

We ate at Cantina del Marchese twice during our stay based on recommendations from the locals and weren't disappointed. The restaurant itself is unusual and has the feel of a converted cellar with the first impression being the smell of local cheeses as you enter....The service is fairly informal and the menu unusual (all local specialities), but to get a true taste of the food in this area it is definitely the place to go. We tried a range of dishes which were all nice with the rabbit probably being our favourite. The waiter was extremely helpful and a great character (we both got a hug when we left!). In terms of value it was superb - about £15 a head for 2 courses and a carafe of wine.More
