The Meson Alazor restaurant is not situated down at the bottom of the village like most of the others but is a short stroll up the road beside the river, past the trout pens (not the main village through road). This means it is peaceful, very few cars go by and the leafy exterior is very pleasant. You can eat... More

Thought we needed to mention this place for service and quality. Travelling from Seville to Granada, we 4 pulled in for a comfort break and a light lunch. We were unsure what to eat but, having ordered a drink, found that the modest looking triangle of local hard cheese on a slice of bread and bowl of olives that came... More

Had lunch recently at this restaurant-located slightly above town. There were four of us and two had Trucha Plancha which was grilled to perfection with garlic and parsley. Sadly the chips were the French fries variety, lacking life and texture. The other two in our party had Trucha with tomatoes which was excellent but had the same troubled chips. Sadly... More

The Alazor, past the church, up the tiny hill, south of the river Rio Frio, is a delight. Typical Spanish fare at a reasonable price served by friendly staff. Our favourite restaurant locally.

Very good restaurant, excellent atmosphere at the weekends and popular with Spanish as are most of the restaurants in Riofrio. Recommend the Trout dishes especially Trucha Genovesa, my vegetarian wife had Asparagus rivuelta (specify that you want it without ham though) with pobre patatas. Excellent service too!

A perfect day out in the area in warm autumn sunshine and no better place to call in for a locally-reared trout lunch on their patio. Huge bowl of Sopa de Mariscos (Seafood Soup) to start followed by delicious Trout Genovese and an ice cream to finish, all washed down with a cold beer. Six of us in our party... More

MESON ALAZOR (in Spanish). We've been going to this restaurant for the past 8 years or so, and every time we come to this area on holiday we go at least once. The staff are friendly (it's pretty quiet during the week - it's absolutely HEAVING on Sunday lunchtimes!) The Ensalada de la Casa (House Salad) with tons of fresh... More

Rio Frio is just outside Loja off the A92 motorway going from Granada / Loja to Seville / Malaga. El Alazor is a family run airconditioned / heated restaurant with winter log fire as well. There are at least 15 restaurants in this delightful oasis beside the cold river. You can cool your beer in the river here even in... More
