An evening out was planned for our father's birthday. He wanted seafood and from the reviews and menu, it seemed the Tautog's would fit. In generic terms it did: fresh fish, fresh shrimp, crab, etc...they have a lot to offer. But, the devil is in the details. We tried a few appetizers. The pound of steamed shrimp served with cocktail... More

The food is uneven, with nonplus vegetables that don't taste fresh, and fish that can go either way. If you like a lot of sauce and some unsettling mystery to your food, this might be your place. If you look beyond the tables, the kitchen isn't as clean as one would hope. The staff are nice enough if you are... More

This is not your average beach-town restaurant. It's quite unique. The venue is actually a converted "cottage", with an enclosed front porch for extra space. I dined there on an early Wednesday evening in April - so the crowds had not yet arrived. Lucky for me. I complimented the barkeep on the place, and he said that it was in... More

Based on the reviews and from our hotel we had great expectations. The old cottage style home was very charming and inviting. Our server was great and he was attentive. We had a goat cheese app which was very good as were the oysters and she crab soup. The flounder was a disappointment over cooked and way too expensive for... More

I loved the decoration. The food would be great as well with the excepcion of the crab cakes that were a bit overcooked.

What a nice experience we had for our first night in VB. Good food but even better service. Dave, our server, gave a beer tasting and my husband got to taste the potatoes before ordering either that or the rice. Was recommended by the front desk of our hotel and was not disappointed. Thanks John!!!

Nice cozy place with lots of choices for dining. We had to split our party of 9, to table of 4 and 5, but overall the restaurant met our choice, we went on spur of the moment.

Really enjoyed our first visit to Tautogs. The building itself has plenty of character, with many pictures and decor to look at. The staff was very friendly. Our waiter, Paul, was very low key, but we seemed to get a chuckle or two from him with our Canadian humor. Our food was excellent. Steamed shrimp, scallops and pasta, talapia and... More

Based on reviews we expected great food, it was disappointing. The Fho was dreadful, overcooked veggies, undercooked noodles, cold unappetizing broth. Ribs nothing special, fish we ordered overcooked - even after sending it back once. Nothing special was served, most was not good. Can't recommend it.

Wonderful little restaurant located steps from the beach, this old beach cottage gives a romantic whimsical beach vibe from days gone by...
