One word describes the Sandpiper it’s never open and has been inconsistent at best. We’ve been loyal customers for 20 years, but the last three times the restaurant has been dark. Hate to see a local institution go down!

Upon entering, the host explained the specials for the evening, then seated us. A minute or two later, he comes over and asks if we have any questions. My wife had one and he plopped down in the spare seat and proceed to answer her...More

A nice enough place, service was fast and friendly. The wife had shrimp and I oysters, both were fresh and well prepared. I definitely would dine there again.

We ate recently in the Sandpiper Restaurant. It was a delightful, friendly place. Our hosts, natives of the area, told us that would be a good place for crab cakes...were they ever right. The crab cakes were rich and flavorful with no need for fillers.

I was impressed when they turned the music off at the bar. This place is so in tune with their customers, and employees, it's scary. The food is about what you would expect in a rural area, but I have to say, I have had...More

This is a very small local restaurant with a good menu. The food was OK. I was surprised they did not have any of the local wines on the menu. They are located in a great wine area with 3 wineries right up the road...More

Four of us stopped here tonight. Took 2 hours to eat. While the food was very good we thought it expensive. 1 crabcake $25. Crabcake n 4 shrimp $32, as was the stuffed crab. The sheephead was $28.

I don't recall a specific "gluten free" menu, but much of the food there is simply prepared, so I don't think having a gluten-free dinner there would too difficult. I would cal ahead to make sure though.
