We visited Chowing's in the beginning of October, when it is still about 70 -75 degrees, and were on a campus tour. We knew the food would be good, and had a variety of different items on the lunch menu, to fit myself and two...More

The meal was nothing special compared to some other establishments in the Williamsburg area, but the atmosphere makes it worth a trip! The Tavern workers are so fun and kind, they wrote poems for us and made us the center of attention!

On our recent visit, this was the only tavern open in Williamsburg historic area. I thought it would be overpriced and mediocre quality food. I was wrong. It was great food, reasonably priced and served in a lovely ambience that was a wonderful homage to...More

We loved the atmosphere and commadiere that the wait staff created. The service was good even with the tavern full. We enjoyed Shepherd's Pie and Brunswick Stew. Very generous portions. Salad was typical. Wine and beer reasonable with great selection. The troubadour was good. Being...More

Authentic atmosphere, delicious food, excellent beers on tap, and even delightful 18th century entertainment. All the taverns in Colonial Williamsburg are good, but Chownings is my favorite. Expect to wait. No reservations!

Super location in historic district. Wonderful atmosphere. No reservations. I had Shepherd's Pie and it was a very pale imitation of the real thing. Service was slow. Dinner for two with a shared dessert and three drinks was $78.

We did have to wait for a table despite there being plenty empty in the restaurant. The number of wait staff working at the time seemed to be the main reason during our visit. My boyfriend and I were asked if we would be willing...More

Colonial Williamsburg was an incredible vacation experience. Josiah Chowing's Tavern was a culinary delight. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. A truly wonderful "step back in time" event. I highly recommend this Tavern.

We ate in Josiah Chowning Tavern this trip and enjoyed the meal. They offer quite a bit of variety and stay busy. Most of their offerings tend to be sandwiches, chowder, and salad. They offer beef, turkey and type BBQ flatbread sandwiches. They even have...More

I suggest you direct your question to the venue where you purchased your special event ticket. I only dine at Chownings at regular dining, not special events. No idea what the menu will be.
