There is a little treasure on Duke of Gloucester Street known as the Fat Canary. We had dinner on a cold and blustery January evening. We were greeted with warm and friendly smiles by the staff and sat down to a gourmet delight. The special...More

We dine here two or three times a month and absolutely love this place. The food is consistently excellent...a gourmet's delight. The staff is also attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant's location near Colonial Williamsburg makes it a memorable destination.

When I took suggestions for dining in Williamsburg this restaurant was everyone's top choice. I so agree. Tucked in the small square in front of William and Mary it is an easy walk from any of the colonial Williamsburg properties and the Lodge. We were...More

The Fat Canary Restaurant is a diamond in the rough. There is nothing outwardly visible that would indicate such fine dining is located within The Cheese Shop on Duke of Gloucester Street in Williamsburg, VA., yet the cuisine is remarkable. And tough it is obvious...More

Fat Canary is an exceptional restaurant - and will offer you a variety of options. Anything you select will meet the highest standards. It is not a steakhouse - I’m in Bangalore and jet lagged. My last response was confusing. More

This high-energy bistro took over as Williamsburg's best restaurant as soon as it opened in 2003. The sophisticated but relaxed dining room has an open kitchen, which uses fresh, local ingredients for its creative American fare. The dining bar and seasonal outdoor patio seating are on a first come basis. Reservations for the dining room are recommended and may be made up to 2 months in advance. Open daily for dinner, a hostess is available during the day to take reservations.
