We were passing thru the area and were recommended the Lyle Hotel for a bite to eat. We decided to just get a bunch of appetizers instead of full meals. The food was out of this world. We got the crab cakes, smoked olives, smoked cheese and bussel sprouts. It was some of the best foods we had tasted. The... More

Something came up and we had to leave about an hour after checking in. The owners offered us a refund or a rain check. I thought it was very kind of them.

Who would have known that this small town has a white table cloth and candlelit restaurant serving a choice of wonderful dinners? We had dinner here two night in a row and both nights we were very happy with our choices.

Nice menu selection prepared by the owner/5 star chef. Served perfectly done to our table. Flavorful, nice portions, appropriate prices. We started with a garden salad, big enough to share for two. For dinner I had the smoked salmon pasta and my friend had the flat iron steak, both of which were perfectly done and piping hot when served. We... More

I can see where some might think the atmosphere is "charming" but I thought it was just old with a bit of "gussying-up". There is no hard liquor served so if wine or beer is OK then your good. The wine and beer selection is not large but I felt it was adequate. The Dry Roasted Brussels Sprouts starter was... More

Very nice food that was made the way you like it. I had braised port that was medium spicy, but could of had it however I wanted. The wine selection was very good and they had some nice microbrews on tap. We both enjoyed our meal and felt is was the perfect portion. Not over done, but definitely felt like... More

We had appetizers, and two main dishes which were excellent. The dining room is simple but comfortable and we enjoyed the historic nature of the building. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. My only negative comment is that the wine pours seemed small. All glasses are $7-$11 and they are good quality local wines.

Since moving to the Columbia Gorge area, my wife and I have been looking for a special place for dinner. We were excited by our experience at the Lyle Hotel. The location is a bit out of the way and the building, while charming, lacks curb appeal. When you get inside there are several options: from the back deck to... More

The Lyle Hotel has reopened! Lovely staff and a great setting. It has the feel of "Old Napa" before Napa became tourist central.
