Ichikawa is a small, low-key Japanese restaurant with a nice variety on the menu beyond just sushi. The sashimi is awesome, and the various plated dishes can be surprisingly good. There is usually a special offered on a board as you enter - always worth a look. Seats are comfortable, and sitting at the sushi bar is always a treat.... More

Food was perfection; the staff were friendly and "real people" ... absolutely a restaurant I will return to should we get to Port Townsend again.

The food here is superb, carefully and beautifully presented. Sushi and other Japanese dishes are delicious. We love the salad and dressing, teriyaki salmon and are never disappointed. They have a traditional private dining area for groups of 6 also.

There are few things I find more frustrating than travelling somewhere and trying to find a good sushi restaurant. Finding Ichikawa was a god sent. This is the best quality sushi you'll get on the entirety of the Olympic Peninsula. It's no grocery store quality, slap-shod, soulless and generic, cheap, Americanized stuff you usually slog through. It has the single... More

The abundant staff was very friendly and patiently answered my questions about the menu. I wouldn't say it was the best sushi I've ever had, it was average, nothing wrong with it.

My husband and I have lived in Port Townsend for 11 years and eat at Ichikawa at least a couple of times a year. The place is small, so you may be offered a place at the sushi bar if the tables are all full. But the benefit of the bar is that you get to watch Peter assemble his... More

Upon entering the restaurant you will be seated very quickly. There will be a small whiteboard with that days specials, and bento box. Everything I have gotten there has been wonderful. My personal favorites are the Bin Cho Ten and Gin Dara rolls, these do not include raw fish if that is a concern to you. Another great option is... More

Because we were a "large group" they would not allow us to split our check and we had a forced 20% gratuity automatically added to our bill regardless of service. Speaking of service, our waitress made a rookie move and tipped one of the ice water glasses over on our table swamping our friend's iPhone 6s. Thankfully his phone is... More

Drove into PT Looking for something besides road food. Thought we might find quality fish near the coast. Our waitress seemed new to sushi but she tried hard to answer our questions. Wife ordered a Supporo and thought it tasted off. Was the glass not cleaned? Tempura had too much breading, mushy. Veggies not cooked enough. Ordered miso soup , got... More

OK, so the decor is less than impressive, but the food is outstanding. We had 6 different rolls and a few other things. The sushi was perfection. If you eat at Japanese restaurants, you know it takes a while. The service staff are nice and accommodating.
