This is one of our favorite local restaurants. Buckets of beer and authentically flavored traditional hispanic meals. We've tried just about everything on the menu and it's all good. My favorite on a lite meal night are the tamales. If I order anything else, I end up taking a plate of food home. The employees are hard working and friendly... More

The best authentic food around - hands down. Everything is home made and you can see it to believe it as the kitchen is open. Prices are reasonable for what you get. All the plates we've ordered have come hot and very tasty. If you are expecting chips & salsa, you'll be disappointed because they don't serve them. And if... More

I have been coming here close to 10 years. Excellent food, especially the Steak Ranchero. Authentic. Not Amercanized .

Worst Mexican food I have ever had! I had high hopes because the place seemed busy. I ordered the shrimp Diablo which is supposed to be a sautéed shrimp smothered in a spicy red sauce. What a joke! First bite I took it was a sweet sauce that was very familiar so I asked the waitress if the sauce was... More

I just got back from this oddly named restaurant, smiling as I carried my bag of carry-out into the house. Whenever I have reason to be in Tacoma, I make sure I stop at Vuelve A La Vida on my way back. It's actually only 3 miles from the City Center and the freeways, so it is convenient for anyone... I took my daughter and her boyfriend here today. We came in for the awesome pork tacos her boyfriend had a steak burrito and loved it. We saw a lot of beautiful looking bowls of seafood soup going out to customers. It smelt so good that's what I'm having next time. We finished with the deep fried ice cream very... More

Thursdays they have chile rellenos which are very good. The size runs from standard to huge depending on how the chiles are growing. The tortillas are made in house and are excellent. The wait staff is friendly. The arroz con pollo is outstanding.

What a nice find in funky south Tacoma. Good food made simply with fresh ingredients - remember that ? Skip the chips n salsa game & save your appetite for the enchiladas - they even include 4 oz of carne asada on the side. So big even the rice n beans were on their own plate. I left full &... More

It is not fancy, but that is good. The food is solid and delicious. I like certain Mexican dishes that are seldom served in the chain restaurants. I found them here, and they were very well prepared. My only concern is that this popular neighborhood restaurant will be discovered by more people who like authentic Mexican food without the chips... More
