We're locals and eat at the South Hills Market & Cafe often as well as have frequently used their catering services. They feature excellent creative local-sourced food with a distinctive gourmet Appalachian flair. Vegans, vegetarians and gluten-sensitive folks can all find freshly prepared fabulous food at SHMC. Their take-out meatloaf, bean salad, a la carte items are brilliant.

SHMC is a a nice place plain and simple. The food there is always good, their sandwiches in particular, with good service. Priced a little on the high side but well worth it when you consider the environment. Great place for personal chats and discussions as well as doing business. Food is wonderful. My family loves to go!

We ate around noon on a weekday and it was not crowded. Our server was prompt and courteous. We ordered the soup of the day that was well prepared but served lukewarm. The sandwiches we had were slightly better than average but the price seemed a bit high. I understand the dinner menu is a bit more exotic and, from... More

I stopped by for a solo late lunch and was the only customer in the restaurant. A gentleman greeted me at the door and told me I could sit anywhere. Since servers were setting up for dinner, I sat at the bar. There were a few televisions playing with the sound off, soft background music, and a case with delicious... More

We had driven by the place a couple of times, but it never really looked inviting. The outside looks maybe like a run down 70s diner where you get greasy meatloaf - do not be fooled ....the minute you walk in, an entirely different ambience....very classy, very clean, very modern, but homey at the same time.....we went for lunch and... We enjoy the atmosphere. It's a lovely neighborhood restaurant but a nice place to sit and have a cocktail too. The staff is friendly and professional. The food is fresh tasting. Portions are just right. It's a little on the expensive side but the quality and flavor are worth it. The presentation adds to the flair. It's a nice place... More

Situated in the hills above Charleston West Virginia, it is a non-pretentious spot for a fine restaurant. The dinner menu is small but truly good food. The lobster resotto coupled with grilled halibut with especially inviting. Do not pass up the oysters Rockefeller. Crabcakes are wonderful as was the diver scallops. Busy, so you should make a reservation.
