I stayed at The Forks as an alternative to camping on my way across WV. Glad I chose it. Dog friendly, soft sheets, nice atmosphere. It’s not as quiet as you might expect due to some highway noise, but turning on the AC helped muffle...it.
The restaurant was great. Aside from unnecessary to do about bringing a dog onto the patio (they weren’t going to allow it at first) it was a good experience. Nice view, excellent food. I had the pasta special. Really interesting flavors, not what I expected. Creative in a good way, not in a pretentious way. I would come back.More
Atmosphere was top notch with amazing view of mountains.
Food was James Beard worthy.
Service was excellent.
Can’t think of better dining experience.
Simply stunned to see negative reviews.
Very nice view, if you can see it from your table. Service is very professional. The food is very sub par. You get big city prices in a very low end restaurant. Our desert was very dry. Seemed like it set too long after it...thawed out.More
We did not expect food of this quality combined with very warm hospitality and an unbeatabvle ambience, but it lived up to every claim on its website. The staff helped me in every way whenb I left my credit card; they notified me that it...had been found and theymailed it when they learned I was on the way home. We de finitely will eat there again when we are back in the area.More
We stayed at the hotel, which was awful. Built in 60s or before. Big room with new bed. But AC system looked thirty years old. Bed was great. Biggest problem was that after 4:00am, continuous large haulage trucks came by on the mountain road beside...us. Noise was deafening. There is a huge quarry up the mountain above the hotel. Since the hotel is just off US33, that road gets the blame. Kelly Mountain Road leads to the quarry. So the noise does not come from US33.
Now to the positive. The restaurant is great. It is on the lower floor of the hotel. Independently operated, I think. The chef is great. The mussel appetizer was good, but not the best I have had. But the chef had a special prime rib cooked over smoker cooker. It was great. So I rate the restaurant a 5, but the server was not great. I reduced his tip accordingly.More
On my last night in a recent trip to the Appalachian Mountains of WV, I had dinner at this restaurant. The serving staff was first-rate and the food superb. I had Steak Au Poivre Vert (a flat iron steak with a brandy and green peppercorn...sauce) and an excellent glass of Californian cabernet sauvignon. A memorable ending of a very pleasant trip.More
We wanted somewhere for dinner that was off the beaten track. We looked at Trip Advisor and saw The Forks listed. The food was great, the view was spectacular and the dining options were very varied. We tried the maple something chicken (I stopped listening...after maple) and it was marvelous. We also had the cheesecake for dessert and it was good as well. Good quality food for the price. Attentive weight staff.More
My husband and I took a spur of the moment trip to Elkins - dining at the Forks which was highly recommended by a friend. What a WONDERFUL dining experience. We did not have reservations but were seated promptly upon arrival. The temperature was cooler...but the staff quickly turned on the propane heaters on the deck. Partake of the signature cocktail! I had the lavender martini, made with fresh local lavender. Dan, owner/bartender, formulates these drinks using local floral. Incredible! Their tonic water is also homemade (who knew?). The service was excellent - server was so pleasant - we felt so comfortable. Dinner was tremendous. My husband had the beef tenderloin, which was cooked to perfection. The mussel appetizer is a must - dip in the homemade hot, fresh bread! We felt the prices were right on. We often eat at finer establishments in the Pittsburgh area. The view is priceless. After dinner, even thought they close at 9, we enjoyed cocktails at the bar. We were never rushed and the wine glasses are substantial! We actually stayed in one of their lovely rooms. If you are looking for a relaxing, beautiful setting for dinner with delicious food, you cannot miss at the Forks.More

I've tried to make a reservation online, but, never received a confirmation. Best plan is to call and leave a message if after hours. Even when you think someone will be there (like, the chef, or kitchen crew, maybe?) they do not answer the phone. Reservations highly suggested if a weekend.
