We are in town for a wedding. Randomly chose Ala Roma. Wow! The culture among the staff is outstanding. All were happy, efficient, and helping each other. The food was very good. Prices were appropriate.
1st time around they messed up our order (we ordered a stuffed crust pizza; they sent a regular crust pizza). The food was ok and since we were staying at a hotel, we asked that they please provide plates and eating utensils. No utensils provided....Very difficult eating pasta barehanded and fortunately the hotel was able to access their kitchen and provide the necessary. With the outstanding credit, we elected to return. There must have been some breakdown in communications because on the 1st visit, the manager said he would credit the pizza made in error, When we called to order the 2nd time, a different manager said she could only credit the price difference ($2.99). We ordered and this time the order was correct BUT once again, they forgot the utensils. Apparently, the staff has grown accustomed to eating pasta with their hands.More
We have been coming here for years since they opened. No one gives you such large portions at such a reasonable cost. Food is consistantly good. We have cut back now during Covid as we are not very comfortable dining inside. If we do, we...like to show up at opening for lunch before they get busy.
Our last visit was on a Saturday for lunch. We took a table in the bar room, which seemed less busy than the dining room. As our meal progressed, the bar filled up and there didn't appear to be any social distancing going on. I feel better when a restaurant removes some bar stools to encourage it, but didn't see that here. We started to feel very closed in at our table near the bar by the time we were done eating. I will say, all staff we saw was wearing masks.
On to the food - excellent. We shared the fresh bruschetta app. Generous portion, but a little hard to eat. The toppings were constantly falling off of the bread, but tasty. Hubby ordered a stuffed pasta dish off of the menu, so we shared his French Onion soup. It's really too much for one person! Hot and good, but lacked a little flavor. he really enjoyed his pasta dish, and has another meal for home with leftovers. I opted for a salad, which I never do. I ordered the caprese salad and it was HUGE. I barely put a dent in it. Lots of good toppings like the fresh mozz, tomatoes, cucumbers...........really liked the balsamic vinaigrette dressing that it came with. It was just way too much. I took more home than I started with! LOL Haven't had time to try it again, but have a feeling being a salad, it didn't keep well.
Great service and food again, all deserving of a 5 star rating, but the lack of spacing at the bar, which happened to infringe on us at our bar table, made us nervous. I chose to give it a 4 star. We might hold off returning here for inside dining for a while. There's always delivery!More
The food has always been great. They advertise curbside but that was not available. I offered to read my credit card but they preferred we come into the restaurant. Once inside we realized that no employees were masked.
Ala Roma Italian restaurant has great food, atmosphere, AND service. What I think is also great, is that they have numerous G.F. ~ gluten free items that taste great too, including pastas, pizzas, and a daily g.f. dessert! Great salads too.
We had eaten at Ala Roma before, my wife liked the pizza and wanted to return so off we went. Very busy for a mid-Sunday afternoon in Jan. We were immediately seated and were introduced to Dan our server. Our drink orders were taken and...when he returned we had made our selections. I had the cheese pizza with a side order of cheesy bread and my husband had a beef Gyro and a cup of french onion soup. Our appetizer of cheesy bread was delicious. Next, the soup arrived, wonderful. Then the pizza and Gyro, excellent. Dan returned several times to check on us. He is an excellent server and kept us happy we returned for another meal.
