Went there for a perch fry. The menu called it "lake perch" but I'm pretty sure it was Zander or "fake perch." On top of that, it wasn't served hot. It was lukewarm. We've been coming here since it opened, since it's near where we...live. The prices have become a bit outrageous, and the food quality has slipped over time. Bottom line: it's no longer special.More

Great "Northwoodsy" venue. Excellent food and drink. First timers here as we were traveling and did an overnight on a Monday night which made it difficult to find an open restaurant. Reviews here looked good and we soon found out why. My wife had a...Chicken Caesar Salad which was great and she commented that there had to be more than one chicken breast added to the salad there was just that much. I'm a fan of fried perch and for $22 I received FIVE large fillets deep fried to perfection that came out very hot and served over a slice of marbled rye covered in sliced raw onions, a first for me - must be local as I've had fried perch all over the Midwest and this was a first. Not bad but not my cup of tea. The perch was great and it came with a starch. I chose the "thick chips", home cut potato chips that came out nice and crunchy with just a hint of salt. Perfect. Coleslaw was great. I had a couple of their "special" Mules, the Jack Frost. Outstanding! Our waiter, Tom T., was attentive but not intrusive and had a ready answer (accurate, I might add) for our questions concerning the menu items ordered and explaining the "fixin's" for the Jack Frost Mule. Our only regret is that it's unlikely we'll get back here as typically our destination is Door County, this was basically a "one off" trip. Don't miss out on this casual dining experience!More

Popped by for a quick dinner omw back from hiking with my dogs. Sat on patio. Ellie was our server. She was great. Nice to the dogs, brought them water for the dish I brought, and attentive. Didn't feel I was forgotten about outside. Didn't...drink because had to drive back to Madison, but their drink menu had options I would have loved to try. Got the Mackinaw combo appetizer so the dogs could have chicken tenders. It was actually one of the better sample baskets I've had. The cheese curds were delicious too and I'm a sconnie so ik my curds. I ordered the baked cod meal. The mashed potatoes were sloppily thrown on plate and we're in the side where I went to grab and little to no flavor for being garlic. Steamed veggies cooked perfectly but no seasoning. The cod was okay, nothing special and was overcooked. I wouldn't shoot them down for that and would return, but would order something else next time.More

Another yearly stop on our way home from our Labor Day camping trip. We are never disappointed with the service we receive here. We are usually a larger group of 6-10 people. We are seated quickly and the waitstaff are quick and efficient in getting...drinks and orders taken. Food comes out quickly and is always delicious. Haven't had anything yet on their memory I wouldn't recommend. Good place to fuel up for the last leg of our trip home.More

We took friends to lunch but wont do that again here. Food was not best and both my wife and I found our food poorly prepared and poor - chicken salad not all white meat as described and my Rubin was soggy and thrown literally...together. We could have gone next door to a chain and gotten a better meal. Probably will not return.More

my husband and I have been to Mackinaws a few times over the years because of the beautiful building, atmosphere, and great food. We choose this as a favorite spot when we travel to Green Bay. Last night, we went 20 minutes out of the...way to go to Mackinaws. For the first time we went with our 2 1/2 year old daughter. We had said yes, we would like a high chair, but no one ever brought us one and we had to find one on our own. No big deal. They have a really cute childrens menu with crayons, and healthy choices as sides that come with. We did the mac and cheese with streamed veggies for her. I had the coconut shrimp with steamed veggies and rice. My husband had the baked cod with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. We shared the cheese curds (come with french fries) and ranch. The fried foods were all just fine- Not the best or worst - just average. Their sauce for the coconut shrimp was very good, and ranch just a little better than store bought- average. Their baked cod was dry, and way overcooked and had no flavor. The masked potatoes had way too much garlic and an odd aftertaste. The coleslaw was not good - warm like it had been sitting out way too long. The rice was just fine. The steamed veggies were like they came straight from a bag of frozen microwavable veggies that were microwaved too long- some were tough and they had no seasoning at all. The mac and cheese tasted overly buttery and like it was reheated leftovers- all stuck together and not creamy at all. When asked how everything was my husband told the waitress who just became uncomfortable and said oh im sorry. He had taken two bites of his food and didnt eat the rest. She didnt ask if he wanted something else and didnt offer to take it off the bill. We definitely did not take any of the leftovers home. After this visit, I don't know if we will be coming backMore

We got there early Saturday about 5:30 and the place was packed so expect a wait. We sat and the bar and the staff was excellent. Lots of really good food choices.

My sister & I were in GB for Christmas shopping. I had seen the reviews on TA so we decided to try the Mackinac Grill. Our hotel wasn't close but with the GPS, we were able to find it. The decor was very impressive, rustic,...with a loft (which we didn't explore). Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We both had the coconut crusted shrimp and it was awesome! I would definitely recommend this place even if it's out of your way.More

We had a big party of 7, and the restaurant gave us great service. After COVID, I have learned to deal with waits in restaurants with staff shortages. No shortages here - quick service, drinks and appetizers out in 10 minutes, friendly service and excellent...main courses that followed. Rustic ambiance, a classic Wisconsin menu (with big portions), and a great night out. Highly recommend.More

We have eaten here many times. Always good food (except the Reubens are soggy. They need to drain their sauerkraut more). But this visit my cinnamon butter had a hair in it. Gross.

Our waitress was efficient and sweet. The menu had so many good choices. It was our first cheese curd experience and WOW, yum. I mentioned that we were sharing the spinach salad and she split it on to two plates without being asked. The chicken...dumpling soup was perfect. Finally, both our sandwiches were beyond good: spinach chicken wrap and perch on rye. As travelers from PA, I spend a lot of time researching choices for meals on the road and this restaurant exceeded expectations. Highly recommend.More

Not rushing back to this place. While a nice diversity on the menu and a good number of local microbrews, just okay for taste and appearance. The burgers were good but not outstanding. The turkey wrap and the taco salad were average to below average....Would have loved to have more than 8 leaves of lettuce in my taco salad. The waitress did take our order and did deliver our order - maybe checked on us once. She visibly was on her cell phone the rest of the time. At least she could have tried to hide the fact she was taking care of the room she was assigned.More

Six of us went to Mackinaws for the Mother's Day buffet and were very disappointed. The buffet was $25 per person and the food was terrible. The quality was poor and the food trays were very slow to get refilled. The buffet is also set...up in a corner so it is hard to get to the different stations. I would not recommend.More
