A group of us went for the fish fry recently. If we wanted to show visiting guests an old, Milwaukee location with German flare and traditional food, I think we'd go back; for a fish fry some week, I doubt it. The website is very...More

We had a "Memorial Luncheon" here today. Service was absolutely excellent, food was scrumptious, prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Fourteen adults in our group and every single person was very happy with their meal! I would highly recommend Kegel's Inn...More

Fish fry tonight. Best part was bread and potatoe pancakes. Cod and walleye fillets small. Fish was bland. Waited an hour to even sit down. Waitress was excellent. Atmosphere was nice.

The staff is SO nice! The restaurant is so charming. The appetizer, soup and salad were delicious. Then dinner arrived. *sigh* My husbands duck was DRY. So dry, after tasting a bite I drank most of my water. My beef rouladen was dry, to the...More

A West Allis landmark with mostly German food and a wide selection of beer on tap in addition a fully stocked bar. Friendly staff. Very popular for a traditional fish fry on Friday nights. Reasonable prices. Depending who you ask, every item on the menu...More

Soup and salad were great. Not very friendly service. Very rushed. Schnitzel was very dry and the shanks, while impressive looking, were greasy, fatty and not worth the work.

What's the noise level like? Can a group of 8 people sit and talk while eating a meal? Saturday evening for example and other times...

I've only been to Kegels on Friday's when it is noisy. Might be better on a Saturday. I heard that the duck is wonderful.
Do I need to make a reservation for a Friday dinner?

Definitely. I was there for lunch and it wasn't busy, but all reviews say it's tough to get in for dinner -especially on Fridays. Above average food but not the best value, in my opinion.

Located in the heart of Milwaukee's West Allis neighborhood, Kegel's Inn serves up the most authentic German fare in the area. Inside you'll find a warm atmosphere, friendly service and one of the most beautiful beer halls in the country. With incredible murals, leaded glass, and heavy wooden beams, one can almost hear rounds of "Du Bist Mein Herzen" reverberating in the Bierstube. Since 1924, Kegel's Inn has been the locals' go-to destination for authentic German cuisine and continues to top the charts as one of the best places to catch a Friday Fish Fry in Milwaukee.
At Kegel's Inn, everything is made from time honored traditional recipes. Like the rest of our establishment, things haven't changed much since we first opened our doors in 1924. Sure, there may be some new faces, but our steadfast commitment to our customers and our family values keeps our atmosphere warm and inviting, our service fast and neighborly, and our delicious food in accordance to the highest standards of our family lineage. At the end of the day, our goal is that your experience gets better every time you come in. Danke Schön!
