Let me preface this with my bias... I'm from the South (Louisiana, to be exact). Calling this place "Southern Comfort Food" is a bit of a stretch, even for the most forgiving southerners. They serve very good "Southern Inspired" food, but the gumbo, jambalaya, and especially the corn bread are far from authentic. Again, they serve excellent food, and it's... More

We recently dined at Maxie's with some friends whom we are travelling to New Orleans with in Oct. The guys enjoyed raw oysters in the half shell at the bar. Neither of the guys had ever tried raw oysters and said they were quite good. The decor of the restaurant is very inviting with a country feel. We had chicken... More

This place lives up to all the positive reviews. Delightful casual atmosphere. The menu is varied enough to please most palates. Emphasis on southern cooking. Huge portions! We tried the beef brisket and crab cake dinners. Both were excellent. Portions of Fries that came w meals were quite large. Sweet potato fries are excellent. The server was great, and the... More

After a full day of meetings 12 of decided to head to Maxie's for dinner. We were promptly sat and the server was right there getting drink orders. When the drinks were served he let us know what the specials were and took our appetizer orders. For appetizers we went with several orders of Nola Grilled Oysters, some raw oysters... More

I was very pleased with my order. I love catfish and was surprised it was on the menu. It was fabulous! The sides were red beans and rice, and broccoli. We ordered green fried tomatoes as an appetizer. They were crispy and not overdone. Very delicious. I also ordered a Marquita. It was very good not a bottled mix. This was... More

I ALWAYS go here for their special Marci Gras menu. It has never failed! This year they changed the chicken with cheese grits and a honey glaze. They used to serve chicken breast strips and this year they served thighs. I sent it back and got the hamburger steak. AMAZING!!! SUPER FUN ATMOSPHERE!! Go here!! They will not disappoint!!

Enjoy a place that has a lot of unexpected items on the menu. Very good fish and seafood. You can't go wrong if you like cajun food.

We ate at Maxie's before a theater show on a Thursday evening. We got right in and sat at a second floor table. Restaurant was very busy but the hostess was very pleasant and informative. Ordered our drinks (my Old Fashioned was perfect) and enjoyed those while we studied our menu. The staff brought a basket of corn bread and... More

We live in the neighborhood and usually walk and plan to wait about an hour. We were there around 6 on Saturday night on February 18th. We found a place at the bar to enjoy our drinks. Maxies is ALWAYS busy so it is nothing new to patrons or staff. We waited about 45 minutes and were shown to our... More
