All the bread I've tried has been perfect. They also make great soups, some vegetarian. You'd be hard pressed to find a better baker anywhere in the Midwest. The fact that they do it with organic ingredients makes it that much more special.

This one of my absolute favorite places. Great bakery, soups and sandwiches including scones (if you get there early) which are the best I've every had. We always eat in to enjoy the conversation and one of the newspapers/magazines that are available. This place regularly makes the "best of Milwaukee" lists. Fridays in the summer they offer a local sourced... More

A steady stream of locals & out- of- towners flock to this fantastic cafe/ bakery! Everything from scratch, finest & purest ingredients & a warm friendly comfy atmosphere. We drive in from Chicago at least once a month. Last week he made a cauliflower gruyere toasted walnut quiche- it rated an "mmm" after each bite. The quiches are individual size... More

At Amaranth Bakery and Café commitment to the Common Good is served with equal quality to organic slow-rise breads, brioche, scones, cookies, croissants, baguettes, homemade stock garden soups and salads. I heard great things about this bakery prior to coming here and its all true! Its a small, quaint bakery with great art on the walls and of course delicious food! The pecan bun is a must! There's a delicious glaze on there with a massive amount of pecans and best of all is..it's not overly sweet, to me it... More

Quaint, friendly, inviting, neighborly, welcoming. These are words that describe the atmosphere of the Amaranth Bakery. Forget Starbucks. This is the real deal. Wonderful, authentic food. Freshly brewed high quality coffee. Drove from New Berlin to try this place and we will definitely return for more of the great food and vibes. Scones are to die for.

This is one of Milwaukee's best bakeries. The bread, pecan rolls, croissants, and Kouign Amann are all wonderful but I am becoming addicted to the scones -- all of them, no matter what the flavor. There is a small but excellent lunch menu and great coffee. The cafe has several tables and lots of great things to read. I wish... More

I went for lunch with a friend. Small menu but yummy and healthy food. I had the butternut squash soup. It was full of flavor. And because it was so healthy I was happy to order a peanut butter cookie for dessert. The cookie was big, thick and soft! The owners really care about fresh and healthy ingredients.

Whether you go for lunch or dinner Amaranth never disappoints. From tasty croissants to artisan salads, sandwiches, and quiches this place has it all! It's locally owned which is awesome but the restaurant hours change seasonally so make sure to call ahead of time.

While it's in a rather desolate urban-pioneer neighborhood, this little cafe-bakery is warm and welcoming. The menu is small, but everything is very tasty and the desserts are decadently delicious.
