My friends go here for a few different favorites. Mine happens to be the chili. With onions, crunched chips and shredded cheese, I usually overeat their chili. Great place for a few drinks as we bicycle the Jane Adams bicycle trail with this off the trail 8 block stop. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone passing through the area.... More

Eating there is the must the same today as in 1940. Very eclectic and interesting. Quirky. They serve "The world's second best chili." We had a sandwich that is supposed to be on a list of 1000 things to eat before you die. Limburger cheese, onion and salami. Total cost of one sandwich, two cokes, and a bowl of chili... More

This is a spot to go to with adults, not a kids place. Great sandwiches, great Bloody Mary's, Haven't tried the Chili but people say it's amazing. Limburger cheese if you're up to the challenge, I can't get past the smell! GO FOR IT

The chili was delicious, the cheese was excellent and the hospitality and atmosphere were out of this world. We were taken back to its roots in 1931. Get some cheese to go too when you visit!

Here is a mighty fine family restaurant. The service is terrific. The atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. The selection of tee shirts is over the top. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. The staff is helpful and friendly. I recommend stopping any time you are in or near Monroe, Wisconsin.

We know why it's been there since 1931! Even our teenagers loved it. Wonderful service; everyone was so friendly. We had delicious sandwiches and the cheesecake was one of the best we have ever had. We loved the atmosphere and had such a great time. Can't wait to go back again.

If you are just going in to order from the deli, that's fine, but don't bother ordering from the menu. Measly portions and everything is a la carte.

Lunch at Baumgartner's capped of a wonderful day for us. We started 30 minutes down the road in Freeport, where we visited my father-in-law's grave site to decorate it with Cub's World Series (!!!!!!!!!) memorabilia and share a beer with him. Then we made the short scenic drive to Monroe. If you've never been to Green County Wisconsin, the scenery... More
