This was our first stop on our Dells trip and can say that the food was good nothing special. The bar seating is ok- dark and manly. I think I was waiting for something better being that it was a brat house. It was also pricy, I couldn't understand why but we were on vacation! Might go back.

If you visit Wisconsin you have to have a brat and this place has the best brats around. Mushroom and swiss brats were amazing.

Took a road trip to the Brat house yesterday for lunch and had an awesome experience. Food was delicious and service was fantastic. Portions are enormous! Cool atmosphere, beautiful old, but restored building. Lots of character. Forget the chain food joints and come here for your lunch or dinner soon. Stop in and see Miriam at the bar...you won't be... Nice atmosphere. Excellent service. Fast and friendly service. Food was okay. My brat was good, but the appetizers weren't that great. None of the other three in the group liked their entree. The beer was cheap!

This is your basic Wisconsin bar and restaurant specializing in brats, hot dogs and some German food. The service was great, but the food was just average. It is relatively inexpensive, especially for a resort area. If you just want a beer and something quick and cheap to eat, this is the place.

We stopped in for a Braut ... plenty of choices ... went for traditional with grilled onions and hot beef/pork with kraut ... both come with house made chips dusted with parmesan cheese with ranch dressing on the side for dipping. Both were good ... Service prompt and friendly. Located in old church, with stained glass windows ... setup for... More

Food was priced right for the area. Food was very mediocre. Nothing special about it. Service was extremely slow.

Excellent variety of sausages. The bread could have been better, better like home made better, it tasted like they just came out of a plastic bag. Wasn't even warm. Other than that, everything else was excellent. Real sausages, real comfort food. Love the old church too, was a bit strange for me initially to be dining in an establishment that... More

Description
Originally constructed in 1850, the Delton Academy was a one room Baptist Boys Schoolhouse. In 1865, it became the Delton Methodist Church. In 1894, the church was expanded and the entryway and side room additions were built. What was originally the entrance was replaced with the G.A.R. stained glass window and the bell tower was added. During this period it was also used as the G.A.R. Hall. The Grand Army of the Republic was the Civil War version of the V.F.W. for the Union army. In 1868, General Order #11 of the G.A.R. called for May 30th to be designated as the day of memorial for Union veterans; originally called "Decoration Day", it later evolved into the U.S. national Memorial Day holiday. The G.A.R. was also active in pension legislation, establishing retirement homes for soldiers, and many other areas which concerned Union veterans. The influence of the G.A.R. led to the creation of the Old Soldiers' Homes of the late 19th century, which evolved into the current United States Department of Veterans Affairs. The back room, bathroom and kitchen addition was added sometime in the 1950's. In the 1970's, the building was then purchased by a group of local residents and it became the Old Delton Academy Antique Mall. In the spring of 2007, the building underwent a revamping and became what it is today; the oldest public building in southwest Wisconsin and home of the Brat House Grill. The building still retains it's original wood floor, wainscoting and window frames. It's remarkable what great shape the building is in after it's extensive and varied history.
