The food was great our waitress Judy was very helpful and very friendly and attentive. The chef was from New Jersey and had a great selection of food. We had their gourmet salad and we were the first ones to have it with their garlic sauté grilled shrimp on it which we would definitely recommend.

Lovely charming cafe. Very nice staff and the food was freshly cooked and extremely nice. My husband had a bacon cheeseburger and I had the shrimp. The staff would bring you cold water in a bottle to your table. We were the last customers still in the cafe eating and we were conscious of time for them to close up... More

It's been 3 years since my cross country trip which included Devil's Tower and I can't stop thinking about the Ponderosa Cafe. Every aspect of my dinner was superlative-- including the non-pretencious atmosphere and friendly service. But the food-- oh my, the food. My brother had the pork chops (which was enough for 2) and I was lucky enough to... More

I had the deep fried walleye with fries and my wife had the cod. The fish was hot and tasty for both plates. Bartender brought me a gin and soda by mistake, but replaced it. The waitress brought me a much larger check from another table. Then brought me a check for our order that did not add up. She... More

The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. Very friendly staff. The chef personally came out and talked to us and when I explained I could only eat gluten-free, he was VERY accommodating. We both had elk burgers and they were delicious! Would highly recommend this restaurant.

In all fairness, I am giving them a "very good". If there would be a rating that sits in between Fair and Very Good, that's how I would rate Ponderosa Cafe. This was my second time in, and I ordered my burger medium rare, it came back well done. Honest mistake, shoulda ordered the Fish n Chips again! They were... More

Sorry about the over cooked burger I take full responsibility for that. Sometimes one gets away, I will meet with my other cooks and give another lesson on doneness. PLEASE come back so we can right the wrong. Thank you for the kind words and review. I will take a look at our tarter sauce recipe and consider giving it... More

Hands down this is the best food for 60 miles. There are about 5 restaurants in this little town populated by just a few, and the owner-chef has mastered not just culinary arts but also customer service. The food is Italian-inspired and has many traditional American favorites as well. Specialties include the pasta bowl, pork chops, and the prime rib.... More

We have been traveling for 7 days, and stopped in Hulett on our way home. This restaurant was recommended by our hotel, and so glad we took the advice. We arrived a little after 4, and the restaurant was closed, but as we got out to see, there was a very friendly gentleman in the parking lot who told us... More
