Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon. Unusual calamari in finger shapes instead of rings, great texture and flavor and a nice dipping sauce. Went Hawaiian and ordered the luau pizza, pulled pork and fresh pineapple nice crust and a good change for pizza toppings. Couldn't resist the mushroom soup special and accompanied all with a caesar salad topped with blue... More

This restaurant was described as one of the best in Hilo, but we found it fell short. On the positive side the caprese salad was large and the tomatoes were excellent. But, the waiter messed up our order. The pasta my husband had was bland and all pasta, not much sauce. It was just an average restaurant

We made the 40 minute trip from Volcano village to Hilo twice to dine at Café Pesto. We found the food very good and the prices reasonable for the quality.

I lived in Hilo when Cafe Pesto first came on the scene. It was a favorite place to eat. A few months ago, I visited again after 15 years on the Mainland and discovered that Cafe Pesto has become an amazing experience. Four of us were there for dinner, and we all raved over the presentation and the deliciousness of... More

Stopped in for lunch based on other reviews....was ok....we both had had hot sandwiches. Maybe we should have a pizza. Not anything to write home about

Seated promptly, service above average & menu balanced. It is not an exaggeration to say this was the best pizza I have ever eaten.

To start with. the waiter was great. I ordered a Porter (beer) and he explained it had a coffee/coconut flavor to it. It prevents a surprise as most porters don't have that kind of flavor. He also warned me about my barbecue crispy chicken salad having a bit of a bite with the chipotle sauce. I tried the beer anyway... More

While in Hilo after exploring the amazing botanical gardens we stopped in here for lunch. Our friends recommended Pesto's based on how much they enjoyed their sister restaurant Kawaihae Harbor. I highly recommend the delicious wood fire pizza - you can create your own taste sensation. Everyone enjoyed their food which included: buttermilk fried chicken salad, Ahi fish sandwich and... More

The place was packed with locals and tourist. We did not wait long for our party of 8. Good selections of pizza, pasta, salads plus fresh offering so the day. All were good and affordable. It is close to the farmer's market and a Nature Food store , both worthy of a visit. Ample parking in the front.

After strolling through the Queen L. Garden park we happened upon this restaurant not expecting much. What a surprise. The food was excellent. I had a vegetarian pasta but added a moon fish (opa). It was delicious! The service was very good, attentive but not imposing.
